Lady Bears win on Sophomore Night

Lady Bears send off sophomore's Aliyah Cooper and Celica Sterling out in style ,this afternoon, with a 61 to 35 victory over conference opponent Delgado Community College. The Lady Bears came out a bit sloppy in the first half but turned up the defensive intensity and got some keys buckets from their roll players to grab the 26 point victory.  At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Bears held a 13 to 6 lead. Baton Rouge used a full court press to keep Delgado off of their game plan.  Delgado only scored 3 points in the second quarter.  Baton Rouge led at the half, 19 to 9. Delgado found a bit of a rhythm, in the third quarter, but the Bears still had a ten point lead heading into the fourth quarter at 37 to 27. In the fourth quarter, Harlee Doucet came off the bench and hit three big three pointers to help the Lady Bears push their lead to double digits. 

Baton Rouge outrebounded Delgado 37 to 27 and forced the Lady Dolphins into 14 turnovers.  Delgado only shot 28 % from the floor compared to 40% by the Lady Bears.

 

Lady Bears Highlights:

Celica Sterling scored 22 points with 7 rebounds, and 5 assist.

Aliyah Cooper scored 10 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assist.  Aliyah shot 56 % from the field.

Kayla Watson added 13 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assist

Harlee Doucet scored 12 points,and had 2 steals.  She shot 44 % from the 3.

This was the last game of the 2017-2018 season for the Lady Bears. The game on Wednesday February 28 versus Southern Shreveport has been forfeited by the Jags.  Baton Rouge finishes their season with a record  of 11-14 and 6- 3 in conference play.
