Lady Bears lose 60 to 53 to Mississippi Gulf Coast Lady Bulldogs

Lady Bears fall to Lady Bulldogs this afternoon 60 to 53. Mississippi Gulf Coast used their press effectively, this afternoon,to get some steals and easy transition buckets.  The Lady Bulldogs forced the Lady Bears into 21 turnovers.  Mississippi Gulf Coast used a 12-2 run to grab their biggest lead of the game at 32-17.  BRCC did not give up and scored the final 9 points of the second quarter to only trail by six points going into halftime.  The Lady Bears changed things up and came out to play in the third quarter. At the end of the third quarter Mississippi Gulf Coast Led BRCC 41 to 40.  BRCC Lady Bears outscored the Lady Bulldogs in the third quarter. BRCC took a 45 to 43 lead with 8 minutes to play in the fourth quarter but a 6-0 run by Mississippi Gulf Coast gave them a led they would not relinquish.  BRCC out rebounded Mississippi Gulf Coast 35 to 32.  Lady Bears shot 40 % from the floor compared to the Lady Bulldogs 43 %. Mississippi Gulf Coast improved to 6-9 on the season while Baton Rouge falls to 5-11.

 

Lady Bears Highlights:

Kayla Watson led the Lady Bears with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assist, and 2 steals

Tremeeka Spikes added 6 rebounds and 1 block

Celica Sterling added 10 points and 2 blocks

Aliyah Cooper added 9 points and 9 rebounds which 7 where defensive rebounds

 

The Lady Bears will be back in action this Wednesday January 31 when conference play begins at LSUE.
