Lady Bears are officially on a winning streak. BRCC Lady Bears defeated Louisiana College JV Lady Wildcats, this evening, 72 to 41, in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center. This is the second consecutive win for the Lady Bears. It was a total team effort tonight. All eight Lady Bears' players contributed either on the offensive end or came in and played great defense. Coach Lee's young team played at a high level from the beginning till the end of the game. BRCC jumped out to an early 7 to 2 lead over Louisiana College JV after 3 minutes, in the first quarter. The Lady Bears extended their lead to 18 to 4 at the end of first quarter. BRCC outscored Louisiana College JV 21 to 13 in the second quarter. Halftime score was Lady Bears 39 and Lady Wildcats 17. Unlike previous games, the Lady Bears came out with passion, and aggression on both ends of the floor, in the third quarter. At the end of the third quarter, the Lady Bears had an 54 to 27 lead over the Lady Wildcats. BRCC won the rebounding edge by 1; 37 to 36 over Louisiana College JV. For the second straight game, the Lady Bears had a positive assist to turnover ratio. The Lady Bears had 23 assist with only 10 turnovers. BRCC also forced the Lady Wildcats into 28 turnovers. BRCC Lady Bears improve their season record to 4 and 10.
Lady Bears Highlights:
Tremeeka Spikes led all Lady Bears in scoring with 23 points. She added 10 rebounds, in which, 7 were offensive rebounds.
Celica Sterling had another solid night with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals
Kayla Watson added 15 points and 5 steals.
Harlee Doucet scored 9 points. She was 3 for 7 from the 3 point line. (43%)
Mariah Jones added 9 assist and scored 4 points.
The Lady Bears will travel to Pineville, Louisiana next Tuesday, January 23 to take on Louisiana College JV. Game time is 5:30 pm.
