2017-2018 Lady Bears Basketball Schedule

2017-2018 Lady Bears Basketball Schedule

Baton Rouge, LA -  The 2017-2018 season marks the start of Coach Lee's eighth year at the helm.  Lee is extremely excited about another season with the Lady Bears; howeve, with eleven new faces garnishing the red and black, she knows that there will be a fair share of highs and lows. Even though the 2017-2018 Lady Bear roster is filled with eleven newcomers, they will definitely play up-tempo with confidence, determination and a will to win attitude throughout the year.

The Bears officially kick off their season with three scrimmages at home in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center against powerful NAIA opponents, Xavier of New Orleans (October 14), Dillard University (October 21) and LSU-Alexandria (October 28).

The regular season starts off with the annual Lady Bear Classic, which gives this new and young group an opportunity to play in a comfortable surrounding, before getting on the road to play five quality Region #23 opponents. The first road test for the Lady Bears will be against Holmes Community College on November 9 in Goodman,MS.  The road does not get much easier as the Lady Bears take part in the Southwest Mississippi Classic and the Mississippi Delta Classic. After a five game road stretch, the Lady Bears return home for two contests against Holmes Community College on November 30 and Mississippi Delta Community College on December 2.  The Bears wrap up the fall semester with  a game at Mississippi Gulf Coast on December 9, 2017. The spring semester starts off where the regular season began, on the road in the Bossier Parish Classic. The first chance you will get to see the Lady bears play in the new year at home will be for a three game homestead beginning with Southwest Mississippi Community College on January 6, 2018. Without a doubt the non-conference schedule is challenging, but Coach Lee is excited about the energy and effort this young group puts forth each and every practice.

The mixture of Region #23 games throughout the schedule always prepares the Lady Bears for conference play, which begins on January 31, 2018 at LSU-Eunice. The conference season will be a mixture of 9 games with 5 of those games being at home in front of our home fans.  Lee says that it is always her goal to play quality opponents throughout the year because it gives her and her staff a good indication of where the team is and where the team needs to get to, before competing for a Conference Championship.

Come out and cheer on your Lady Bears as they look to rally together to win another LCCAC championship and move on to the Region 23 tournament.
