Title: Assistant Softball Coach

Aeriyl Mass joined the BRCC coaching staff in August of 2022, and is in her second season as a college softball coach after a successful collegiate playing career. A native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, she attended Alfred M. Barbe High School from 2012-2016. After high school, she went on to play three years at University of Louisiana at Lafayette under Michael Lotief and Gerry Glasco. After a redshirt year in 2017, she was an impactful player who helped the Ragin’ Cajuns to NCAA Regional and Super Regional appearances in both 2018 and 2019. During the 2018 Baton Rouge regional against the University of Houston, her defensive skill as an outfielder was highlighted on ESPN when she appeared on SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays.

Mass transferred to Southeastern Louisiana University for the Covid-interrupted 2020 season. While at Southeastern, she earned multiple accolades, including 1st team All-Southland Conference, 1st team All-Louisiana, 1st team Southland Conference All-Academic, and Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll. In her final season (2022), she led Southeastern to a record-breaking year and was named Female Student Athlete of the Year. She is one of only three Southeastern softball players to ever earn 1st Team All Louisiana in back to back years.

After finishing her 6 years of college softball, she earned degrees in both Criminal Justice and General Studies with a concentration in Applied Behavioral Sciences from Southeastern. Her primary responsibility will be working with outfielders and hitters at BRCC.
