Lady Bears sweep Dallas Christian Crusaders

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears Softball team met the Dallas Christian Crusaders for the first time in program history, this afternoon on the diamond, at Traction Sports Complex. The Lady Bears would use an offensive explosion at the plate, as they would, win game one 9-1, in six innings and game two 13-0, in five innings.

Game One:

Baton Rouge Lady Bears would have an offensive explosion as they would score at least one run in every inning to defeat the Dallas Christian Crusaders 9-1; in six innings.

The Lady Bears would get on the board first with a run, in the first inning,  to take the early lead. Kristyn Lormand would hit a single to right field and score on a line drive single off the centerfield wall by Kelsie B Etheridge. The Lady Bears would add a run to their lead in the second inning. Kristyn Lormand would single again and would score on a Morgan Alleman double off the centerfield wall. After two innings, the Lady Bears led 2-0. The Lady Bears would score another run, in the third inning, to extend their lead to 3-0 over the Crusaders. Adelyn Fisher would single, steal second and score when Isabella Landeche would reach on an error. Dallas Christian would get on the board with a run, in the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Lady Bears would add to their lead with three runs. Kylie Lormand would single, steal second and score on a Morgan Alleman single. Alara Taylor would double to left field scoring Alleman and Taylor would score on a sac fly by Kelsie B Etheridge for the Lady Bears third run of the frame. After four innings, the Lady Bears led 6-1. The Lady Bears would continue their scoring streak with a run, in the fifth inning, to take a 7-1 lead. Adelyn Fisher would lead off with a triple to right field and score on a double steal. The Lady Bears would end the game with 2 runs, in the sixth inning, to defeat Dallas Christian 9-1. Morgan Alleman would lead off and reach on an error. Alara Taylor would reach via catcher's interference. Alleman and Taylor would pull off a double steal to put runners on second and third. Alleman would score on a sac fly by Jennifer Ipson. Adelyn Fisher would hit a hard ground ball to the shortstop which she could not manage thus scoring Taylor for the game winning run.

Marley Olivier started in the circle for the Lady Bears and earned the victory. Marley pitched six innings allowing 1 run on 6 hits while striking out 2. Johnson took the loss for the Crusaders. She pitched four innings allowing 6 runs on 8 hits while striking out 1.

Baton Rouge outhit Dallas Christian 10 to 6. Dallas Christian committed four errors in the ball game.

Lady Bears Game One Highlights:

Kristyn Lormand went 2 for 4 with 2 runs

Morgan Alleman went 2 for 3 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs 

Alara Taylor went 1 for 3 with 2 runs and 1 RBI 

Kelsie B. Etheridge went 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs 

Adelyn Fisher went 2 for 3 with 2 runs

Cierra Treigle went 1 for 3

Kylie Lormand went 1 for 3 with 1 run

 

Game Two:

The Lady Bears again had an offensive explosion at the plate and the combination of Lady Bears' pitchers, Kelsie B. Etheridge and Sophia Tanner shutout the Crusaders to earn the 13-0 game two victory. 

The Lady Bears would continue their hot hitting, in the second game, when they would plate four runs, in the first inning, to take the early lead. Kristyn Lormand would lead off with a double and she would score on a Morgan Alleman single. Alara Taylor would reach on an error and Alleman would score on that same error. Adelyn Fisher would hit a triple scoring, Taylor. A double steal with Lawrence and Fisher would plate the ladies fourth run of the frame. The Lady Bears would add three more runs to their lead, in the second inning; 7-0. Cierra Treigle would lead off with a double to left field and she would score on a Morgan Alleman single. Kristyn Lormand, who reached on a single to left field would score on a sac fly by Alara Taylor. Morgan Alleman would score on a Ryen Lawrence infield single for the ladies third run of the frame. The Lady Bears would cap off game two with six runs, in the four inning. Adelyn Fisher would hit a two-run homer to centerfield. Ryen Lawrence would hit a single and score on a Crusader's error. Marley Olivier would be hit by a pitch. Landeche would pinch run for Olivier. Emma McCormick would single to left field. Landeche and McCormick would score on a triple by Zoe Nettles. Kristyn Lormand would single (her fourth hit of the game) scoring Nettles. After four inning, the Lady Bears led 13-0. The Crusaders would get three runners on, in the fifth inning, but a Tanner strikeout and an unassisted double play by Alara Taylor would end the threat and the ball game. The Lady Bears defeat the Crusaders 13-0, in five innings. 

Kelsie B. Etheridge started in the circle for the Lady Bears and earned the victory. KB pitched 3 innings allowing 0 runs on 0 hits while striking out 1. She faced the minimum number of batters. She faced nine batters and got nine batters out. Sophia Tanner would pitch two innings in relief for the Lady Bears.

Baton Rouge outhit Dallas Christian 14 to 3. Dallas Christian committed three errors in the ballgame.

Lady Bears Game Two Highlights:

Kristyn Lormand went 4 for 4 with 2 runs and 1 RBI

Morgan Alleman went 3 for 3 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs 

Alara Taylor had 1 RBI 

Adelyn Fisher went 2 for 3 with 2 runs, 3 RBIs and 1 homer

Emma McCormick went 1 for 3 with 1 run

Cierra Treigle went 1 for 1 with 1 run

Zoe Nettles went 1 for 2 with 1 run, 2 RBIs and 1 triple 

 

With the pair of victories, the Lady Bears improve to 18-22, while Dallas Christian falls to 4-27 on the season.

 

The Lady Bears will be back in action this Saturday April 16, 2022, as they travel to Bossier City to take on the Bossier Parish Lady Cavs in a doubleheader starting at 2 pm.
