Lady Bears fall to #17 Bossier Parish

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears met the #17 Bossier Parish Lady Cavs, this afternoon at Brusly High School, in a doubleheader. #17 Bossier Parish Lady Cavs would take advantage of the long ball to sweep the Baton Rouge Lady Bears. The Lady Cavs win game one 13-1, in five innings and game two 6-4.

Game One

Bossier Parish Lady Cavs took an early lead, in which, the Baton Rouge Lady Bears could not come back from. The Lady Cavs win game one, of today's doubleheader, 13-1 in five inning run rule.

Bossier would score seven runs, in the first inning, to take a commanding 7-0 lead over Baton Rouge. The Lady Cavs would add two more runs to their lead, in the second inning, via a two-run homer by K Cox to right field. Bossier would tact on two more runs, in the third inning, via a two-run homer by H Ladner to right field. After three innings, Bossier led 11-0. The Lady Cavs would again add two more runs to their lead, in the fourth inning, via a two-run homer by K. Cox, her second of the game. The Lady Bears would get on the board in the fourth inning, when Alara Taylor would lead off with a solo homer to centerfield. After four innings, the Lady Cavs held a 13-1 lead over the Lady Bears. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Lady Bears would get some traffic on the base paths when Zoe Nettles and Kristyn Lormand would both single but they would be stranded thus ending the game. Bossier Parish would win game one 13-1.

Alohilani Napalapalai earned the victory for the Lady Cavs. She pitched five innings allowing 1 run on 6 hits while striking out 4. Marley Olivier took the loss for the Lady Bears. Marley pitched one-third of an inning, allowing 6 runs on 2 hits while striking out 1. Kristyn Lormand (2.2 innings) and Sophia Tanner (2.0 innings) pitched in relief for the Lady Bears.

Bossier Parish outhit Baton Rouge 8 to 6. Baton Rouge committed one error in the ballgame. Bossier hit three homers in the game compared to one for Baton Rouge.

Game One Lady Bears Highlights 

Alara Taylor went 2 for 2 with 1 run, 1 RBI and 1 homer

Kristyn Lormand went 1 for 3

Morgan Alleman went 1 for 3

Ryen Lawrence went 1 for 2

Zoe Nettles went 1 for 1

Game Two

Baton Rouge would take an early lead but a late rally by Bossier Parish would propel them to the 6-4 game two victory.

Bossier Parish would get on the board first with a run in the first inning. Baton Rouge Lady Bears would respond and score two runs, in the bottom of the first, to take a 2-1 lead. Kristyn Lormand would lead off with a walk, and score on a Ryen Lawrence sac fly to centerfield for the Lady Bears first run of the ball game. Morgan Alleman, who reached on an infield single would score on a pass ball. The Lady Bears would add on to their lead, in the second inning, via a solo homer by Kristyn Lormand off the light pole in right field. After two innings, the Lady Bears led 3-1. Bossier Parish would inch closer with a leadoff homer by D Sanjay, in the third inning. The Lady Bears would respond again, in the bottom of the third inning, with a run. Ryen Lawrence would hit a double up the middle and would score when Adelyn Fisher would hit a double of her own to left field. After four inning, the Lady Bears led 4-2. Bossier Parish would take the lead, in the fifth inning, with three runs:5-4. Two of the three runs came off a two-run homer by N. Blenker to right field. The Lady Cavs would add an insurance run in the top of the seventh; 6-4. The Lady Bears again would put two runners on in the bottom of the seventh but failed to score them. Bossier Parish would come back to win game two 6-4.

Primrose Aholelei earned the victory for Bossier Parish. She pitched three innings allowing 0 runs on 2 hits while striking out 5. Mallory Pitre started in the circle for the Lady Cavs. She pitched two and two-thirds innings allowing 4 runs on 5 hits while striking out 2. Sophia Tanner started in the circle for the Lady Bears and took the loss. Sophia pitched four and two-thirds innings allowing 5 runs on 10 hits while striking out 1. Kelsie B. Etheridge pitched in relief for the Lady Bears.

 

Bossier Parish outhit Baton Rouge 12 to 7. Both teams committed one error in the ball game. Bossier hit two homers while Baton Rouge hit one in the ball game.

 

Game Two Lady Bears Highlights:

Kristyn Lormand went 2 for 3 with 2 runs, 1 BB, 1 RBI and 1 homer

Morgan Alleman went 2 for 3 with 1 run

Jennifer Ipson went 1 for 4

Ryen Lawrence went 1 for 2 with 1 run and 1 RBI 

Adelyn Fisher went 1 for 2 with 1 BB and 1 RBI 

 

With the pair of victories, Bossier Parish improves to 27-7, while Baton Rouge falls to 16-20 on the season.

 

The Lady Bears will hit the road this Monday April 11 as they travel to Port Arthur, Texas to take on the Lamar Port Arthur Seahawks in a doubleheader starting at 1 pm.
