Lady Bears split with the Coastal Alabama North Lady Eagles

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears and the Coastal Alabama North Lady Eagles met today, in a doubleheader, in the Capital City. The Lady Bears would hold off a late rally by the Lady Eagles to win game one 5-3. The Lady Eagles would take a commanding early lead, in which, they would not relinquish on their way to a 12-7 game two victory.

Game One:

The Lady Bears would hold off a late rally by the Lady Eagles to win game one 5-3.

The Lady Eagles would get on the board first via a solo homer to left field by E Phillips, in the third inning. The Lady Bears would respond with two runs, in the bottom of the third, to take a 2-1 lead. Kristyn Lormand would lead off with a double to left field, she would steal third and score on a sac fly by Alara Taylor for the Lady Bears first run of the ball game. Morgan Alleman, who reached on a walk, would score on a pass ball. After three innings, the Lady Bears led 2-1 over the Lady Eagles. The Lady Bears would add to their lead, in the bottom of the fourth. Emma McCormick would lead off with a walk, steal second and score on a Isabella Landeche single up the middle. Cierra Treigle, who reached on a fielder's choice would score on a Morgan Alleman sac bunt for the Lady Bears second run of the inning. Alara Taylor would  hit a double to centerfield driving in another Lady Bears run. After four innings, the Lady Bears led 5-1. In the top of the sixth inning, the Lady Eagles would inch a bit closer via a two-run homer by A Hillis, but they still trailed 5-3. The Lady Eagles would load the bases, in the sixth inning, but Lady Bears pitcher Sophia Tanner would come out the pen and help the Lady Bears get out of the jam and preserve the 5-3 victory.

Marley Olivier started in the circle for the Lady Bears and earned the victory. Marley pitched five innings allowing 3 runs on 4 hits while striking out 3. Sophia Tanner pitched two innings of scoreless softball to preserve the win for Lady Bears. Emily Phillips took the loss for the Lady Eagles. She pitched two and a third innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits while striking out 4.

Both teams scattered five hits in the ball game. Baton Rouge committed two errors compared to one for Coastal Alabama North.

 Lady Bears Game One Highlights:

Kristyn Lormand went 2 for 4 with 2 runs

Morgan Alleman had 1 RBI, 1 BB and 1 run

Alara Taylor went 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs

Isabella Landeche went 1 for 1 with 1 BB and 1 RBI 

 

Game Two:

Coastal Alabama North took an early lead and held off a rally by the Lady Bears to earn the 12-7 game two victory over Baton Rouge in game two of today's doubleheader.

The Lady Eagles would get on the board first with seven runs, in the first inning. Four of those seven runs came via a grand slam by L. Johnson to left field. The Lady Bears would score three runs, in the bottom of the first, to pull within four; 7-3. Kristyn Lormand  would lead off with a single, Morgan Alleman followed with another single and Alara Taylor would walk to load the bases for the Lady Bears. Jennifer Ipson would hit an infield single scoring Lormand for the Lady Bears first run of the game. Ryen Lawrence would hit into a fielder's choice scoring Alleman. Finally, Adelyn Fisher would hit into a fielder's choice scoring Taylor for the Lady Bears third run of the frame. The Lady Eagles would add a run to their lead, in the second inning, via a solo homer to left field by R Tisdale. After two inning, the Lady Eagles led 8-3. 

The Lady Bears would plate four runs, in the bottom of the third inning, to pull within one: 8-7. Alara Taylor would lead off with a single, Jennifer Ipson would follow with a single and Ryen Lawrence would reach on an error to load the bases. Adelyn Fisher would hit a single up the middle scoring Taylor. Isabella Landeche would hit a sac fly driving in Ipson. Cierra Treigle would lay down a beautiful bunt scoring Lawrence and Fisher would steal home to cap off the four-run inning for the Lady Bears.

The Lady Eagles would add four runs to their lead in the fifth inning;12-7. The Lady Bears struggled to contain the Lady Eagles offense thus falling 12-7.

Olivia Shadburn earned the victory for the Lady Eagles. She pitched two innings allowing 5 runs on 7 hits. Kelsie B. Etheridge started in the circle for the Lady Bears and took the loss. KB pitched two-thirds of an inning allowing 7 runs on 5 hits. Sophia Tanner pitched in relief for the Lady Bears. Sophia pitched four innings allowing 5 runs on 7 hits. Kristyn Lormand would also pitch in relief for the Lady Bears. Kristyn pitched two and one thirds innings allowing 0 runs on 1 hit while striking out 2.

Coastal Alabama North outhit Baton Rouge 13 to 11. Baton Rouge committed four errors compared to one for the Eagles.

 Lady Bears Game Two Highlights:

Kristyn Lormand went 3 for 4 with 1 run

Morgan Alleman went 1 for 4 with 1 run

Alara Taylor went 1 for 3 with 2 runs

Jennifer Ipson went 2 for 4 with 1 run and 1 RBI

Ryen Lawrence had 1 RBI and 1 run

Adelyn Fisher went 1 for 4 with 1 run and 2 RBIs 

Isabella Landeche went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI and 1 BB

Cierra Treigle went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI

Kylie Lormand went 1 for 3

 

With the split, the Lady Bears improve to 16-18 and the Lady Eagles improve to 14-29 on the season.

 

The Lady Bears will be back in action this Friday April 8 as they host the Bossier Parish Lady Cavs at Brusly High School Softball Field. The doubleheader is set to start at 1 pm. Address to Brusly is 601 North Kirkland Drive Brusly, La.
