Lady Bears split with Wildcats in Pineville

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears traveled to Pineville, Louisiana to take on the Louisiana Christian University JV Wildcats this afternoon at Wildcats Park. The Lady Bears and the Wildcats split the day with the Lady Bears winning game one 6-4 and the Wildcats winning game two 8-1.

Game One:

Baton Rouge Lady Bears would take an early lead, in which they would not relinquish, on their way to a 6-4 victory over the Wildcats.

The Lady Bears would score first with three runs in the first inning. Kristyn Lormand would lead off the game with a single up the middle and Morgan Alleman would follow with an infield single. Both would score on a Jennifer Ipson single to right field. Adelyn Fisher would hit a double to centerfield driving in the Lady Bears third run of the inning. The Wildcats would scratch across a run, in the bottom of the first, but the Lady Bears still led 3-1. The Lady Bears would tact on three more runs in the second inning via a three-run homer to left field by Alara Taylor. After two innings, the Lady Bears led 6-1. The Wildcats would score two run, in the fourth inning, but still trailed the Lady Bears 6-4. Kristyn Lormand would pitch six and one-thirds innings in relief for the Lady Bears. She kept the Wildcats off balanced at the plate all game only allowing 3 runs on 3 hits. Lormand earned the game one victory for the Lady Bears.

Baton Rouge outhit Louisiana Christian 8 to 4. Both teams committed 2 errors in the ball game.

Game One Lady Bears Highlights:

Kristyn Lormand went 2 for 4 with 2 runs

Morgan Alleman went 1 for 4 with 1 run

Alara Taylor went 1 for 4 with 1 run, 3 RBIs and 1 homerun

Jennifer Ipson went 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs

Adelyn Fisher went 1 for 3 with 1 BB and 1 RBI

Isabella Landeche went 1 for 1 with 2 BB and 1 Run

 

Game Two:

The Lady Bears fell behind early, in game two, and could not control the offensive explosion by the Wildcats thus the Wildcats win game two 8-1.

The Wildcats would jump on the board early with four runs, in the first inning, and one run in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead after two innings. The Wildcats would tact on another run, in the fifth inning, to increase their lead to 6-1. The Lady Bears would finally get on the board, in the sixth inning, with their lone run of the game. Morgan Alleman would walk, advance to second on a pass ball, advance to third on a ground out by Alara Taylor and score on a Jennifer Ipson single to centerfield. The Wildcats would add two more runs, in the sixth inning, to cap off their 8-1 game two victory.

Houck earned the victory for the Wildcats. She pitched four innings allowing 0 runs on 2 hits. Kelsie B. Etheridge started in the circle for the Lady Bears and took the loss. KB pitched five innings allowing 7 runs on 6 hits.

Louisiana Christian University outhit Baton Rouge 8 to 4. Baton Rouge committed 2 errors in the ball game.

 

Game Two Lady Bears Highlights:

Alara Taylor went 1 for 3

Jennifer Ipson went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI

Adelyn Fisher went 1 for 3

Isabella Landeche went 1 for 2 with 1 BB

 

With the split, the Lady Bears improve to 14-16 on the season.

 

The Lady Bears will be back in action this Tuesday March 29, 2022, as they face the Coastal Alabama South Sun Chiefs at Traction starting at 1 pm.
