Lady Bears drop a pair at LSUE

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears and the LSUE Lady Bengals met for the forty-seventh time this evening on the Cajun Prairie in Eunice, La. The LSUE Lady Bengals would sweep the Baton Rouge Lady Bears, 10-2 and 4-2.

Game One:

Baton Rouge Lady Bears could not overcome a big inning by the LSUE Lady Bengals thus fall 10-2, in five inning.

LSUE would score first with nine runs, in the second inning. Seven of the nine runs were scored with two outs. The Lady Bears would get on the board with a run, in the fourth inning. The Lady Bears would load the bases via back to back walks from  Alara Taylor and Kelsie B. Etheridge and a single by Jennifer Ipson. Montana Smith would hit a sac fly scoring Taylor for the Lady Bears first run of the game. The Lady Bengals would scratch across another run, in the bottom of the fourth, to take a 10-1 lead. Baton Rouge would score another run in the fifth inning, but it was not enough as the Lady Bengals would run rule the Lady Bears 10-2, in game one. 

Chloe Bennett earned the victory for the Lady Bengals. She pitched four innings allowing one run on three hits while striking out four. Marley Olivier started in the circle for the Lady Bears and took the loss. Marley pitched one and two-thirds innings allowing six runs on four hits. Kristyn Lormand pitched in relief for the Lady Bears.

LSUE outhit Baton Rouge 7 to 4. Both teams committed two errors in the ball game.

Game One Lady Bears Highlights:

Kristyn Lormand went one for three with one run

Morgan Alleman went one for three

Alara Taylor had 1 RBI

Jennifer Ipson went one for two with 1BB

Adelyn Fisher went one for two

Montana Smith had 1 RBI 

 

Game Two:

The Lady Bears would score first, then rally back to tie the game and send it to extra innings but a two-run homer in the eighth inning, propels the LSUE Lady Bengals to 4-2 walk off victory.

Baton Rouge would get on the board first with a solo homer by Alara Taylor to centerfield in the first inning. The Lady Bengals would score two runs, in the second inning, to take a 2-1 lead. The Lady Bears would tie the game, in the fourth inning, with a run. LSUE would walk the bases loaded and then walk Adelyn Fisher walking home a Lady Bear to tie the game at 2. Neither team could make an adjustment to the others clubs' pitcher, during the next three innings, to scratch across a run thus forcing extra innings. In the bottom of the eighth, the Lady Bengals would lead off with a single then M. Prejean would hit a two-run homer to left field to walk off with the 4-2 victory.

Cendall Barton earned the victory for the Lady Bengals. She pitched four innings allowing zero runs on one hit while striking out one. Kelsie B. Etheridge took the loss for the Lady Bears. KB pitched seven innings allowing four runs on twelve hits while striking out three.

LSUE outhit Baton Rouge 12 to 2. Neither team committed an error in the ball game.

Game Two Lady Bears Highlights:

Alara Taylor went one for three with one run, 1 RBI, 1 BB and 1 HR

Ryen Lawrence went one for three

Adelyn Fisher had 1 RBI

With the pair of victories, the Lady Bengals improve to 20-8, while the Lady Bears fall to 9-15 on the season.

The Lady Bears will be back in action on Monday March 21 as they travel to Mobile, Alabama to take on the Bishop State Wildcats in a doubleheader starting at 1 pm.
