The Baton Rouge Lady Bears finished out the Sun Chief Classic with a game versus John A Logan Lady Vols at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex. The game was a battle till the end when the Lady Bears would walk off with a 3-2 victory.
John A Logan would get on the board first with a run, in the third inning, to take the early lead. Baton Rouge would tie the game with a run, in the fourth inning. Kelsie B. Etheridge would single up the middle scoring Adelyn Fisher, who reached on a fielder's choice. After four innings, the game was tied at 1. In the sixth innings, the Lady Vols would lead off with a triple by H Pam and she would tag up and score on a pop fly out to take a 2-1 lead. The Lady Vols threatened to extend their lead, in the seventh inning, but a great defensive double play by the Lady Bears would end the threat. In the seventh inning, the Lady Bears would put two runners on when Kelsie B. Etheridge would single to right field and Kristyn Lormand would walk. Alara Taylor would hit a line drive double to right field scoring Etheridge and Lormand for the 3-2 walk- off victory for the Lady Bears.
With the victory the Baton Rouge Lady Bears improve to 4-8, (4-0 in the Sun Chief Classic) while John A Logan falls to 2-6 on the season.
Marley Olivier started on the mound for the Lady Bears. Marley pitched six innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 2. Kelsie B. Etheridge earned the victory for the Lady Bears in relief. KB pitched one inning allowing 0 runs on 1 hit. Johnson took the loss for the Lady Vols. She pitched six and two-thirds innings allowing 3 runs on 7 hits while striking out 2.
Lady Bears Highlights
Kristyn Lormand went 1 for 1 with 1 run
Alara Taylor went 1 for 4 with 2 runs and the game winning double
Montana Smith went 2 for 3
Kelsie B. Etheridge went 3 for 3 with 1 run and 1 RBI
The Lady Bears will be back in action this Tuesday February 22 as they take on the Mississippi Delta Lady Trojans in a doubleheader starting at 1 pm at Traction Sportsplex.

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears had an early wake up call this morning on the second day of the Sun Chief Classic. The Lady Bears and the Snead State Lady Parsons squared off at 9 am. The Lady Bears were up for the task as they defeat the Lady Parsons 9 to 5 this morning.
The Lady Bears would jump out first with five runs in the first inning to take a commanding lead over Snead State Lady Parsons. Montana Smith with get things started with a single to left field. Alara Taylor would walk then Jennifer Ipson would single to left field scoring Smith for the ladies first run. Alara Taylor and Jennifer Ipson would do a double steal and Taylor would score on a pass ball. Ipson would score when Adelyn Fisher would hit into a fielders choice. Finally, Isabella Landeche would hit a single up the middle driving in two more runs to cap off the 5 run inning for the Lady Bears. The Lady Parson would score a run in the second. The Lady Bears would answer with three runs in the bottom of the second. Montana Smith would strike again when she would open the inning with a infield single and score when Alara Taylor would reach on an error. Taylor would score on a infield single by Jennifer Ipson. Ipson would score on a defensive error by SneadState for the Lady Bears third run in the frame. After two innings, the Lady Bears led 8-1. Snead State would inch closer with a run in the third inning;8-2. The Lady Bears would respond again with a run in the third inning to increase their lead to 9-2. The Lady Parsons would not go away as they would score three runs in the fifth inning to inch closer at 9-5 but it was not enough as they Lady Bears would hold the, scoreless over the last two innings to secure the 9-5 early morning victory.
Sophia Tanner started on the mound for the Lady Bears and she earned the victory. Sophia pitched two and a third innings allowing 2 runs on 6 hits. Kelsie Bell Etheridge pitched in relief for the Lady Bears. KB pitched four and two-thirds innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 1. Ashlyn Hallman earned the loss for the Lady Parsons. She pitched six innings allowing 9 runs on 8 hits while striking out 6.

Montana Smith went 2 for 4 with 2 runs
Cierra Treigle went 1 for 3 with 1 run and 1 RBI

With the victory the Baton Rouge Lady Bears improve to 3-8, while Snead State Lady Paraons falls to 6-7.
The Lady Bears will conclude the Sun Chief Classic with a 1:30 game against John A Logan College.
