The Lady Bears traveled down to Gulf Shores, Alabama to take part in the Coastal Alabama Sun Chiefs Classic this weekend. The Lady Bears opened the Classic with a game against Shelton State. The Lady Bears were consisent at the plate today scattering nine hits. The Lady Bears used a great pitching performance by Marley Olivier to defeat the Shelton State Lady Bucs 8 to 1, in their opening game of the Classic.
The Baton Rouge Lady Bears would get on the board first with three runs to take an early lead, in which, they would not relinquish. The Lady Bears would load the bases with a single by Morgan Alleman and two walks by Alara Taylor and Ryen Lawrence. Isabella Landeche would walk in the Lady Bears first run of the ball game. Adelyn Fisher would follow Bella with a single to left field scoring Taylor. Jennifer Ispon would hit a sac fly driving in Lawrence. The Lady Bears would add a run to their lead, in the fourth inning. Morgan Alleman would reach on a single and be driven home by an Alara Taylor double to centerfield. After four innings, the Lady Bears led 4-0. The Lady Bears would add three more runs, in the fifth inning, to take a commanding 7-0 lead. Isabella Landeche would lead off, the fifth inning, with a single to left field. Jennifer Ipson would single to right field and advance to second on the throw. Cierra Treigle would walk then Montana Smith would line out but Landeche would tag up and score. Kristyn Lormand would reach on an error which would drive in Ipson. Morgan Alleman would single to left field scoring Treigle. The Lady Bears would tact on their final run, in the seventh inning, when Montana Smith would hit a double to left field scoring Cierra Treigle, who reached on a single up the middle. The Lady Bucs would finally get on the board in the seventh inning, but it was not enough as the Lady Bears would defeat the Lady Bucs 8-1.
Marley Olivier earned the victory for the Lady Bears. Marley pitched six and one-third innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 6. Sophia Tanner pitched in relief for the Lady Bears. Kyleigh took the loss for the Lady Bucs.
Baton Rouge outhit Shelton State 9 to7. Baton Rouge committed one error compared to 2 for Shelton State in the ball game.

Morgan Alleman went 3 for 4 with 2 runs and 1 RBI
Alara Taylor went 1 for 2 with 1 run, 1 RBI and 2 BB
Isabella Landeche went 1 for 3 with 1 run, 1 RBI and 1 BB
Adelyn Fisher went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI
Jennifer Ipson went 1 for 4 with 1 run and 1 RBI
Cierra Treigle went 1 for 2 with 2 runs and 2 BB
Montana Smith went 1 for 4 with 2 RBIS
With the victory the Lady Bears improve to 1-8 on the season, while the Lady Bucs fall to 4-7 on the season.
The Lady Bears will conclude their day at the Sun Chief Classic with a 3:45 game with the Bishop State Wildcats.
