Lady Bears swept by Holmes Lady Bulldogs

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears fought till the end, but the Holmes Lady Bulldogs were too much as they get swept, in this afternoon doubleheader. Holmes comes from behind to win game one 7- 3 and takes game two 10-3.

Game One:

Holmes Lady Bulldogs would use a late inning rally to defeat the Baton Rouge Lady Bears, in game one, by the final score of 7 to 4.

The Lady Bulldogs would get on the board first with a run in the first. The Lady Bears would capitalize on some inconsient pitching by the Lady Bulldogs to take the lead with 3 runs, in the bottom of the first inning.  Kristyn Lormand would lead off with a single to centerfield, Morgan Alleman was then hit by a pitch and Alara Taylor would single to left field to load the bases for the Lady Bears.  Jennifer Ipson would hit an infield single scoring Lormand for the Lady Bears first run of the ball game. Montana Smith would draw a walk scoring Alleman. Isabella Landeche would then single to centerfield scoring Taylor for the Lady Bears third run of the innings. After one inning, the Lady Bears led 3-1. In the second inning, the Lady Bears would take the lead via a solo home run by Alara Taylor to deep centerfield. After two innings, the Lady Bears led 4-1.  Holmes would tie the game at 4 with 3 runs, in the third inning, 2 via a home run by J. Ingram. Holmes would take the lead, in the fifth inning, with a solo homer by C. Edwards. The Lady Bulldogs would tact on another run, in the inning, to take a 6 to 4 lead.  The Lady Bears struggled to make an adjustment at the plate. Holmes would add another run, in the sixth inning, to seal the 7 to 4 game one victory.

Travis earned the victory for the Lady Bulldogs.  She pitched seven innings allowing 4 runs on 10 hits while striking out 4. Marley Olivier earned the loss for the Lady Bears. Marley pitched six innings allowing 7 runs on 10 hits while striking out five. Sophia Tanner pitched in relief for the Lady Bears.

Holmes out hit Baton Rouge 11 to 10. Holmes committed 2 errors in the ball game.

Lady Bears Game One Highlights:

Kristyn Lormand went 1 for 3 with 1 run and 1 BB

Alara Taylor went 3 for 3 with 2 runs, 1 RBI and 1 HR

Adelyn Fisher went 1 for 4

Jennifer Ipson went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI

Montana Smith went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI

Isabella Landeche went 2 for 3 with 1 BB and 1 RBI

Cierra Treigle went 1 for 4

 

Game Two:

The Lady Bears went down early to the Lady Bulldogs but clawed their way back. Unfortunatley it was not enough as the Lady Bears lose 10-3 to the Holmes Lady Bulldogs, in game two of today's doubleheader.

The Lady Bulldogs would score first with 2 runs, in the third inning, to take the early lead. Holmes would erupt for 7 runs, in the four inning, to take a 9 to 0 lead. The Lady Bears would continue to  make adjustments at the plate, and it paid off, in the fifth inning, when they would score 3 runs. Kristyn Lormand would double to left field, Morgan Alleman would single to right field and Alara Taylor would go deep with her second homer of the day to left field. Unfortunately, that was all the Lady Bears would score as Holmes would add a run, in the sixth inning, to complete their 10 to 3 victory.

Emmagail Kelley earned the victory for Holmes. She pitched four innings allowing 0 runs on 1 hit. Sophia Tanner earned the loss for Baton Rouge. Sophia pitched three and a third inning allowing 4 runs on 6 hits while striking out 1.  Aleigha Fussell and Kristyn Lormand pitched in relief for the Lady Bears.

Holmes out hit Baton Rouge 11 to 4. Holmes committed 3 errors while Baton Rouge committed 1 in the ball game.

 

Lady Bears Game Two Highlights:

Kristyn Lormand went 1 for 4 with 1 run

Morgan Alleman went 1 for 4 with 1 run

Alara Taylor went 1 for 3 with 1 run and 3 RBIs

Kylie Lormand went 1 for 3

 

With the pair of victories, the Holmes Lady Bulldogs improve to 8-0, while Baton Rouge falls to 0-4 on the season.

The Lady Bears will return to action this Sunday February 13 as they travel to take on Copiah- Lincoln Lady Wolves in a double header starting at 1 and 3 in Wesson, Mississippi.
