Lady Bears swept by #9 Bossier Parish

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears squared off with the #9 nationally ranked instate rivals the Bossier Parish Lady Cavs this afternoon at Traction Sportsplex.  The Lady Cavs would earn the sweep of the doubleheader versus the Lady Bears. The Lady Bears could not control the high-powered offensive of the Lady Cavs.  Bossier would win game one 7 to 2 and game two 13-1.

Game One:

The Lady Bears would fall behind early and could not come back as the Bossier Parish Lady Cavs would win game one 7 to 2.

The Lady Cavs would get on the board first, in the first inning, via a lead off solo homer by U Jong Loy.  Bossier would add a run, in the second inning, to take a 2-0 lead. Bossier would scratch across two more runs, in the third inning, and two more, in the fourth inning, to grab a 6-0 lead.  The Lady Bears would finally get on the board with a run, in the fourth inning. Frashalyon Angelle would triple to right field and score on a double by Kylie Lormand for the ladies first run of the ballgame. After four, the Lady Bears trailed the Lady Cavs 6-1. Bossier would add another run, in the fifth inning, via a leadoff homer by E. Berges. The Lady Bears would continue to fight and scratch across another run in the fifth inning. Brooke Duhon would lead off with a single to left field and she would score on a double by Kelsie Bell Etheridge.  Unfortunately, that would be all the runs the Lady Bears could mustard as they would fall, in game one, by the final score of 7 to 2.

Kiana Progroszewski earned the victory for the Lady Cavs.  She pitched three and a third inning allowing 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 3. Kelsie Bell Etheridge took the loss for the Lady Bears. KB pitched seven innings allowing 7 runs on 12 hits while walking 1.

Bossier Parish out hit Baton Rouge 12 to 6. Baton Rouge was credited with 1 error in the ballgame. Bossier Parish hit 3 homers in the game.

 

Lady Bears Game 1 Highlights

Brooke Duhon went 1 for 2 with 1 Run and 2 BB.

Kelsie Bell Etheridge went 1 for 3 with 1 BB and 1 RBI.

Frashaylon Angelle went 1 for 4 with 1 Run.

Kylie Lormand went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI.

Sarah Petite wet 1 for 3

Alyson Pourciau went 1 for 3.

 

Game Two:

Baton Rouge Lady Bears struggled offensively to find their stride in today's second game versus the nationally ranked Bossier Parish Lady Cavs.  The Lady Bears would fall to the Lady Cavs 13-1.

The Lady Bears would get on the board first, in the first inning, when Brooke Duhon would lead off with a walk and score on a Claire Blanchard single to right field.  After one inning, the Lady Bears led 1-0. In the second inning, Bossier Parish would take advantage of some defensive miscues by the Lady Bears and a three-run homer by H. Pence to score 9 runs in the inning. Bossier would tact on three more runs, in the third inning, to take a commanding 12-1 lead. The Lady Cavs would add another run, in the fourth inning, to secure the 13 to 1 five inning run rule victory. The Lady Bears struggled to string hits and get anything going on the offensive end all game long.

Primrose Aholeli earned the victory for the Bossier Parish Lady Cavs. She pitched three innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 5 and walking 1. Leanne Lain took the loss for the Baton Rouge Lady Bears. Leanne pitched one and one-third innings allowing 9 runs on 4 hits. Saylor Young pitched in relief for the Lady Bears.

Bossier Parish outhit Baton Rouge 9 to 4. Baton Rouge was credited with 5 errors in the ball game.

 

Lady Bears Game 2 Highlights:

Brooke Romano went 1 for 2 and 1 BB.

Kelsie Bell Etheridge went 1 for 3.

Claire Blanchard went 1 for 2 with 1RBI.

Alyson Pourciau went 1 for 1.

 

With the pair of victories Bossier Parish improves to 42-6, while Baton Rouge falls to 6-24 on the season.

 

The Lady Bears will be back in action this Wednesday April 28, 2021 with a doubleheader starting at 1 pm versus Lamar Port Arthur  Seahawks at Traction.  It will be sophomore day. We will be honoring our 10 returning freshman/COVID-19 Freshman.
