Des Moines would get on the board first with a solo homer by S. Maras. They would add to their lead with another run in the first inning.  They would score 2 in the second, 4 in the fourth and 2 more in the fifth to secure the victory.

The only hit for the Lady Bears came off the bat of Freshman infielder Kaitley Fisher in th,e first inning, as she singled to the shortstop.

Alexis Lander earned the victory for Des Moines.  She pitched five innings allowing zero runs on one hit, while striking out three.  Leanne Lain earned the loss for the Lady Bears. Leanne pitched 4.2 innings allowing 10 runs on 9 hits, while walking 7 and striking out 1.

With the win, Des Moines improves to 1-1 while Baton Rouge falls to 1-4 on the young season.

Game 2: The Lady Bears were up 1-0 in the first inning when a transformer blew outside the field shutting down the lights.  Both Baton Rouge and Coastal Alabama North waited for the lights to come back on and even tried to move fields but were unable to finish the game.

Baton Rouge would open the game with a walk by Kaitley Fisher and she would be driven in by Jodi Broussard single to centerfield for the games only run of the game.

The game will not be made up between the two schools.
