Coastal Alabama Sun Chiefs sweeps the Baton Rouge Lady Bears this afternoon in Bay Minette. The Sun Chiefs win game one 11 to 4 and take the night cap 5 to 0.

 

In game one, Coastal took advantage of 7 BRCC erros to take the 11 to 4 victory. Baton Rouge would get on the board first with a run in the first inning. Kaitley Fisher would lead off with a single and would be driven home by a double by Brooke Romano.  The Sun Chiefs would score 4 runs, in the bottom of the first, to take a 4 to 1 lead.  The Lady Bears would score another run in the second when Montana Smith would lead off with a single and would be driven home by a Leanne Lain single and a Sun Chiefs throwing error.  Coastal would extend their lead in the second with another run; 5 to 2.  Baton Rouge would scratch closer, in the third, with two more runs. Alyson Pourciau would single; Brooke Romano would walk, and both would score on a Montana Smith double to left field. Baton Rouge bats would go silent for the rest of the game. Coastal would score 4 runs in the fourth and 2 more in the fifth to seal the game one victory 11 to 4.

 

Coastal out hit Baton Rouge 11 to 6.  Baton Rouge committed 7 errors in the game.

 Ashlynn earned the victory for Coastal.  She pitched 3 innings allowing 4 runs, 3 earned on 6 hits while striking out 1.  Leanne Lain earned the loss for the Lady Bears. Leanne pitched a complete game allowing 11 runs, 5 earned on 11 hits while striking out 2.

Lady Bears Game 1 Highlights

Kaitley Fisher went 1 for 4 with1 run.

Alyson Pourciau went 1 for 2 with 1 run.

Brooke Romano went 1 for 2 with 1 run and 1 RBI.

Montana Smith went 2 for 3 with 1 run and 2 RBI.

Leanne Lain went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI.

 

Game Two

Baton Rouge Lady Bears were unable to come up with the timely hits thus falls to the Coasta Alabama South l Sun Chiefs 5 to 0.  The first three inning was a good ole fashion pitching duel between Kelsie Bell Etheridge and B. Cooper. Coastal would score a run, in the fourth, with a solo homer by B Cooper.  Coastal would add four more runs, in the fifth, to take the 5 to 0 game two victory.

Coastal outhit Baton Rouge 7 to 5.

B. Cooper earned the victory for Coastal.  She pitched six innings allowing 0 runs on 4 hits while striking out 2. Kellsie Bell Etheridge earned the loss for Baton Rouge. KB pitched 6 innings allowing 5 runs on 7 hits while striking out 4.

 

With the victory Coastal Alabama Sun Chiefs improve to 3-1 on the season while Baton Rouge falls to 1-3.
