Lady Bears fall to Lady Cavs

Baton Rouge Lady Bears jumped out early but could not hold on to the lead as the Bossier Parish Lady Cavs defeat the Lady Bears 8 to 5.

Baton Rouge would jump out early and score three runs in the first inning. The Lady Bears would load the bases, then Courtney Ortego would single to right field scoring Fisher and Davis. Frashaylon Angelle would follow with single to left field scoring Romano for the Lady Bears third run of the game.  Bossier Parish would counter and score three runs of their own, in the bottom of the first, to tie the game at three, after one inning. In the second inning, the Lady Cavs would take the lead off a two-run homerun by R. Shepherd. Bossier Parish would tact on two more runs, in the third inning, to take a 6 to 3 lead over the Lady Bears.  Baton Rouge would get a run back, in the fifth inning, when Kaitley Fisher would lead off with a double to right field and she would be driven in by a Brooke Romano single.  Again, Bossier Parish would counter with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning via a solo homerun by R Shepherd. After five innings, the Lady Cavs had an 8 to 4 lead over the Lady Bears. The Lady Bears would add another run in the sixth inning, but it was not enough as they would fall for the second straight day to the Bossier Parish Lady Cavs. The final score was 8 to 5.

Both teams had 12 hits on the day.

Primrose Aholelei earned the victory for Bossier Parish. She pitched seven innings, allowing five runs on 12 hits while striking out five. Saylor Young earned the loss for the Lady Bears. Saylor pitched two and two-thirds innings allowing seven runs on eight hits.

Kaitley Fisher went 2 for 4

Sydnee Davis went 1 for 2 with 1 run and 1 RBI

Brooke Romano went 3 for 4 with 1 run and 1 RBI

Courtney Ortego went 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs

Frashaylon Angelle went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI

Mackenzie Hebert went 1 for 3 with 1 run

 

With the loss the Lady Bears fall to 5-13 on the season.

 

The Lady Bears will be back in action this Thursday March 12 when they take on Jones College at 3 and 5 pm at Oak Villa Park.
