Lady Bears drop rematch with SAU Lady Rockets

Southern Arkansas University Tech jumped out to an early lead, in which, the Baton Rouge Lady Bears could not overcome, as they would loss 14 to 6, in day two of the Bossier Parish tournament.

SAU Lady Rockets would open the game with a lead off homerun to centerfield by C. Victor to take the early lead.  The Lady Rockets would add four runs to their lead, in the third inning, to take a 5 to 0 lead over the Lady Bears.  The Lady Bears would finally get on the board, in the third inning, with two runs to close the gap to 5 to 2. Brooke Romano would single up the middle scoring Fisher for the Lady Bears first run of the game. Sydnee Davis, who reached on an error, would steal home for the Lady Bears second run of the game. SAU Lady Rocket would add to their lead with three more runs in the fifth inning.  The Lady Bears would respond with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth inning. Brooke Romano would strike again, this time with a double up the middle scoring Fisher. Bailey Duhon would follow with a single to left field scoring Romano.  SAU would continue to score runs as they would put up a four spot, in the seventh inning, to extend their lead to 14 to 4. The Lady Bears would fight till the end as they would score two more runs, in the bottom of the seventh, but it was not enough as they would lose 14 to 6 to the SAU Lady Rockets.

Marlee Tomerlin earned the victory for Southern Arkansas University Tech. She pitched five innings, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out four. Leanne Lain earned the loss for the Lady Bears. Leanne pitched two innings allowing five runs on five hits. Jodi Broussard and Saylor Young pitched in relief for the Lady Bears.

 

Lady Bears Highlights:

Kaitley Fisher went 1 for 4 with 2 runs

Sydnee Davis went 1 for 4 with 1 run

Brooke Romano went 2 for 3 with 2 runs and 2RBIs

Bailey Duhon went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI

Krystal Stubbs went 2 for 4 with 1 run

Tori Richard had 1 RBI

Courtney Ortego went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI

Jodi Broussard went 1 for 3

Mackenzie Hebert went 1 for 3

 

 

With the loss the Lady Bears fall to 5-12 on the season.

 

The Lady Bears will be back in action at 12 pm versus Bossier Parish to conclude the Bossier Parish Tournament.
