Lady Bears drop a pair to the Hinds Lady Eagles

The Lady Bears traveled to Raymond, Mississippi today to take on the Hinds Lady Eagles at Rene Warren Field. The Lady Eagles would walk off with the 3 to 2 game one victory. The Lady Bears would tie game two but a huge inning by the Lady Eagles would seal the 13 to 7 victory.

Game one came down to the wire as the Hinds Lady Eagles would score one run, in the seventh, to break the tie and walk off with a 3 to 2 victory over the Baton Rouge Lady Bears.  Hinds would get on the board first with a run in the first and a run in the second to take a 2-0 lead. It was a pitching duel for the next four innings, as neither team could drive across a run. Hind's pitcher struck out seven batters, while Baton Rouge's pitcher struck out three.  Baton Rouge would tie, the game ,in the top of the seventh, with two runs. Frashaylon Angelle would lead off the inning with a homerun to left field for the Lady Bears first run of the game. Krystal Stubbs, who was hit by a pitch, would score on a Mackenzie Hebert single to centerfield, tying the game at 2.  Hinds Lady Eagles would walk off with the victory when S Bryant would hit a sac fly scoring K. Bruner.

Cassidy Rhea earned the victory for Hinds. She pitched six innings allowing two runs on five hits while striking out seven. Leanne Lain earned the loss for the Lady Bears. Leanne pitched six and a third innings, allowing three runs on six hits.

 

Game 1 Highlights:

Sydnee Davis went 2 for 3

Brooke Romano went 1 for 3

Frashaylon Angelle went 1 for 3 with 1 run and 1 RBI- including a homerun

Mackenzie Hebert went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI

 

In game two, the Lady Bears would fall behind early and rally back, but their comeback would fall short as the Hinds Lady Eagles would win 13 to 7.

Hinds would score three runs in the first inning and one run in the second inning to take the early 4-0 lead over Baton Rouge. The Lady Bears bats would come alive, in the third inning, with four runs to tie the game. Mackenzie Hebert would score the first Lady Bears run when she would be driven in by Kaitley Fisher who doubled to right field.  Brooke Romano would single to left scoring Fisher. Bailey Duhon would tie the game with a two-run homerun to centerfield. After three innings, the game was tied at 4.  The Lady Eagles would string together some hits in the fourth inning, scoring seven run and taking a 11 to 4 lead. The Lady Bears would inch closer in the fifth inning with two runs. Sydnee Davis would double to left field scoring Fisher, who walked. Brooke Romano would follow with a double of her own scoring Davis. Hinds would add an insurance run in the fifth to make it a 12 to 5 game. Baton Rouge could only mustard one more run in the sixth, off a double by Brooke Romano, which scored Sydnee Davis. The Lady Eagles would tact on another run in the sixth inning to seal the 13 to 7 victory.

 

Ashley Lopez earned the victory for the Hinds Lady Eagles. She pitched four innings, allowing six runs on six hits while striking out two. Saylor Young took the loss for the Lady Bears. She pitched three and two-thirds innings allowing ten runs on nine hits. Jodi Broussard pitched in relief for the Lady Bears

Game 2 Highlights:

Kaitley Fisher went 1 for 2 with 2 runs, 1 RBI and 2 BB

Sydnee Davis went 1 for 4 with 2 runs and 1 RBI

Brooke Romano went 3 for 4 with 1 Run and 3 RBIs

Bailey Duhon went 1 for 3 with 1 run and 2RBIs- including a homerun

Jodi Broussard  went 1 for 3

Mackenzie Hebert went 1 for 2 with 1 BB

 

With the losses the Lady Bears fall to 4-10 on the season.

 

The Lady Bears will be back in action this Friday March 6 when they travel to play in the Bossier Parish tournament.  They will face Bossier Parish at 11 am and Southern Arkansas University Tech at 1 pm. On Saturday March 7 the tournament continues with a 10 am match up with Southern Arkansas University Tech and  a 12 pm game versus Bossier Parish.
