Baton Rouge jumped out to an early lead over the Mississippi Delta Lady Trojans and withstood their late rally to earn the 11 to 10 victory, in their second game of the JUCO Classic.
Mississippi Delta would get on the board first with two runs in the first inning via a two-run homer by L. James. Baton Rouge would take the lead in the second inning with four runs of their own. Courtney Ortego would double to left field, scoring Bailey Duhon who reached on an error for the Lady Bears first run of the game. Frashaylon Angelle would follow up with a single to centerfield scoring Ortego. Jodi Broussard would be up next, and she would reach on an error by the shortstop. Shay Angelle would score on that same error. The Lady Bears fourth run of the inning would come when Kaitley Fisher would double to left field scoring Broussard.
The Lady Bears would strike again in the third inning when Brooke Romano ,who doubled and was moved over to third by a Bailey Duhon's single, would steal home. Lady Trojans would respond with 2 runs in the bottom of the third inning via two solo homeruns by B. Spiers and L, James. After three innings, Baton Rouge held a 5 to 4 lead.
The Lady Bears would open the fifth inning with a single by Krystal Stubbs. Jodi Broussard would hit a single to left field scoring Stubbs. Mackenzie Hebert would follow with a single to centerfield scoring Angelle, who reached on a single. Mississippi Delta would score a run in the bottom of the fifth inning, but they still trailed 7 to 5. Baton Rouge would add to their lead in the sixth inning with 4 more runs. The Ladies would load the bases with back to back singles by Brooke Romano and Bailey Duhon and a walk by Krystal Stubbs. Frashaylon Angelle would ground out to the third basemen but Romano would score on the play. Jodi Broussard would remain hot; hitting a single to right field driving in two runs. Mackenzie Hebert would follow with a double to centerfield scoring Broussard. Mississippi Delta would attempt a rally in the bottom of the seventh inning, but it would come up one run short. The Lady Trojans would score five runs in the bottom of the frame, but it was not enough as the Lady Bears would escape with the 11 to 10 victory.
Saylor Young earned the victory for the Lady Bears. Saylor pitched six and one-third innings, allowing nine runs on ten hits while striking out three. Jodi Broussard pitched in relief to get the save for the Lady Bears. Gracie Parsons took the loss for the Lady Trojans. She pitched six innings, allowing twelve runs on fifteen hits.

Kaitley Fisher went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI
Brooke Romano went 3 for 5 with 2 runs
Bailey Duhon went 2 for 5 with 2 runs and 1 RBI
Krystal Stubbs went 1 for 3 with 2 runs and 2 BB
Courtney Ortego went 1 for 5 with 1 run and 1 RBI
Frashaylon Angelle went 2 for 5 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs
Jodi Broussard went 3 for 4 with 3 runs and 3 RBIs
Mackenzie Hebert went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs
With the victory the Lady Bears improve to 3-7 on the season.
The Lady Bears will conclude the JUCO classic on Saturday February 29 with an 11 am match up with the East Mississippi Lady Lions and a 1 pm match up with the Meridian Lady Eagles.
