Lady Bears drop a pair to #1 LSUE Lady Bengals

Lady Bears drop a pair of games to the No.1 LSUE Lady Bengals, this afternoon at Bengals field.  In game one, the Lady Bears struggled to contained the high powered offense of the Lady Bengals, thus losing 9 to 0, in five innings.  In game two, the Lady Bears lost the lead late thus fall 4 to 2.

In game one, the Lady Bears struggled to figure out Lady Bengals pitcher Heather Zumo, while the Lady Bengals scored big late enroute to the 9 to 0, five inning victory.  The Lady Bengals would score two runs, in the second, and one run, in the fourth, then they would break the game wide open with six run, in the fifth inning.

Heather Zumo earned the victory for the Lady Bengals. She pitched five innings allowing zero runs on two hits, while striking out six.  Bailey Duhon took the loss for the Lady Bears.  Bailey pitched four and a third innings allowing nine runs on eight hits while striking out four.

Game 1 Lady Bears Highlights:

Hallie Autin went 1 for 3

Cori Breaux went 1 for 2

 

Lady Bears lose a heartbreaker, in game two.  Baton Rouge held the lead till the fifth inning when the Lady Bengals would score three runs over the next two innings to grab the 4 to 2 victory.  LSUE would score first with one run, in the second inning.  Baton Rouge would tie the game, in the third inning. Savanna Orgeron would single to left field and score when Blayne Pence would reach on an error for the Lady Bears first run of the game. In the fifth inning, the Lady Bears would take advantage of the Lady Bengals inconsistent defensive play.  Blayne Pence would walk and, Bailey Duhon would reach on an error.  Blayne would score on an error by the Bengals shortstop to take a 2 to 1 lead.  LSUE would tie the game with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning and take the lead with two runs, in the sixth inning.

LSUE outhit Baton Rouge 8 to 5. The Bengals did commit five errors compared to three for the Lady Bears.

Jeanne Trahan earned the victory for the LSUE Lady Bengals.  She pitched two innings allowing zero runs on one hit.   Kelsey Cifreo took the loss for the Lady Bears. Kelsey pitched five and two-thirds innings allowing four runs on eight hits. Bailey pitched one-third on an inning, in relief,  allowing zero runs on zero hits. 

Game 2 Lady Bears Highlights:

Savanna Orgeron went 2 for 4 with 1 Run

Hallie Autin went 1 for 4

Haleigh Laylle went 1 for 1

Kelsey Cifreo went 1 for 3

 

 

The Lady Bears will conclude the 2019 season on Monday April 29, as Bossier Parish comes to town to play a doubleheader starting at 1 pm at Oak Villa Park.
