The Lady Bears began their texas road trip today with a pair of games versus the San Jacinto Coyotes. The Lady Bears played hard and competed but dropped two games to the Coyotes. Sac Jac won game one 2 to 0 and game two 4 to 3.
San Jac wins a low scoring affair in game one; 2 to 0. It was a good old fashion pitching duel between Lady Bear's Bailey Duhon and San Jac's Michelle Kristoff. The Coyotes could only mustard two runs, one in the third and one in the fourth. The Lady Bears struggled at the plate striking out nine times and were unable to scratch a run. San Jac out hit Baton Rouge 4 to 1.
Michelle Kristoff earned the victory for San Jac; as she pitched seven innings allowing zero runs on one hit while striking out nine. Bailey Duhon pitched a good game, going six innings allowing two runs on four hits while striking out three. Despite the good pitching effort by Bailey she took the loss for the Lady Bears.
Game 1 Lady Bears Highlights:
Kelsey Cifreo went 1 for 2
Lady Bears drop a heartbreaker to the Coyotes ,in game two this afternoon. Baton Rouge would get on the board first with one run, in the second. Payge Hebert would single to centerfield and score on a Allie Vincent single to left field for the Lady Bears first run of the game. San Jac would tie the game at one with a run of their own, in the third inning. The coyotes would capitalize on some defensive miscues by the Lady Bears to score two runs, in the fourth inning, to take a 3 to 1 lead. The Lady Bears would capitalize on some San Jac miscues and some timely hitting, in the fifth inning, to tie the game at 3. Kelsey Cifreo would lead off and reach on an error. Blayne Pence would double to centerfield scoring Cifreo. Bailey Duhon would also hit a double up the middle scoring Pence. San Jac would score the winning run, in the fifth inning, off a Lady Bears error to steal game two 4 to 3.
Baton Rouge out hit San Jac seven to four but they committed four errors in the ball game.
Meagan Smith earned the victory for San Jac. She pitched two innings allowing zero runs off of two hits while striking out three. Kelsey Cifreo got the loss for Baton Rouge. Kelsey pitched three and two-thirds innings allowing three runs on four hits. Bailey Duhon pitched in relief for the Lady Bears.

Blayne Pence went 1 for 4 with 1 Run and 1 RBI
Bailey Duhon went 2 for 3 with 1BB and 1 RBI
Payge Hebert went 2 for 4 with 1 Run
Haleigh Laylle went 1 for 4
Allie Vincent went 1 for 2 with 1BB and 1 RBI
Kelsey Cifreo had 2BB and 1 Run
The Lady Bears will conclude their texas road trip with a doubleheader at Blinn College tomorrow April 23. First pitch is set for 2 pm in Brenham, Texas.
