#2 Lady Bengals sweep Lady Bears in Eunice

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears could not control the high powered offense of the #2 LSUE Lady Bengals as they drop a pair of games this afternoon at Bengals field.  LSUE wins game one 11 to 0 and game two 8-0.

In game one, the Lady Bears fell behind early and was unable to contain the Lady Bengals offensive explosion.  LSUE jumped out to an early six to zero lead after a first inning run explosion.  The Lady Bengals would score one run, in the second, and four runs, in the third, enroute to the victory.

One bright spot for the Lady Bears was Hallie Autin who went two for two.

Heather Zumo earned the victory for the Lady Bengals.  She pitched four innings allowing zero runs on two hits while striking out six.  Kelsey Cifreo took the loss for the Lady Bears.  Kelsey pitched two and a third innings for the Lady Bears allowing eleven runs on eights hits.  Bailey Duhon pitched one and two-thirds innings in relief for the Lady Bears.  Bailey allowed zero runs on one hit while striking out three.

 

Game two was similar to game one as the LSUE Lady Bengals would score early and often to grab the eight to zero victory over the Baton Rouge Lady Bears. The Lady Bears struggled defensive to keep the Lady Bengals off the base paths.  The Lady Bears committed six errors in the game.  The Lady Bengals would score one run, in the first, to take an early 1-0 lead.  They would tact on two more runs in the second, three runs in the fourth, and two more in the sixth for the victory.  The Lady Bears struggled at the plate only getting one hit in the game, which belonged to Krystal Stubbs.

J. Howell earned the victory for the LSUE Lady Bengals.  She pitched five innings allowing zero runs on one hit while striking out thirteen. Bailey Duhon earned the loss for the Lady Bears.  Bailey pitched five and two-thirds innings allowing eight runs on six hits while striking out one.

 

The Lady Bears will return to action on Wednesday April 17 against these same LSUE Lady Bengals. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3 pm at Oak Villa Park.  It will also be Sophomore night as we will honor our ten sophomores after the games.  Those sophomore include, Blayne Pence, Savanna Orgeron, Hallie Autin, Shelby McDonald, Kelsey Cifreo, Payge Hebert, Sydnee Davis, Jessy Ortiz, Cori Breaux and Shelby Breaux.
