Lady Bears lose to #1 Jones County

Baton Rouge Lady Bears could not control #1 Jones County Lady Bobcats high powered offense this afternoon at Oak Villa Park. The Lady Bobcats used a huge first inning to propel them to a 12 to 3 victory in game one and they would take game two 9 to 0.

In game one, the Lady Bobcats' offense came alive early with two first inning homeruns that helped them build a 6-0 lead. Jones would tact on three more runs, in the second, and one more run, in the third, to take a 10 to 0 lead. In the third innings, the Lady Bears finally got on the board with two runs. Hallie Autin would single to left field and score on a Bailey Duhon single. Blayne Pence, who reached on an error, would score when Haleigh Laylle would reach on an error. The Lady Bobcats would add another run, in the fourth inning, to extend their lead to 11-2. The Lady Bears would score a run, in the fourth, when Payge Hebert, who doubled to right field would score on a Savanna Orgeron single to left field.  Jones would add an insurance run, in the fifth, to take a 12 to 3 lead. Jones would take game one 12 to 3, in a five inning.

Hallie Donald earned the victory for the Lady Bobcats.  She pitched three innings allowing two runs on four hits.  Kelsey Cifreo took the loss for the Lady Bears.  Kelsey pitched five innings allowing twelve runs on nine hits.

Jones out hit Baton Rouge 9 to 6 but committed three errors compared to two for the Lady Bears.

 

Lady Bears Game 1 Highlights:

Savanna Orgeron went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI

Hallie Autin went 1 for 3 with 1 Run

Blayne Pence had 1 BB and 1 Run

Bailey Duhon went 2 for 3

Haleigh Laylle went 1 for 3

Payge Hebert went 1 for 2 withn 1Run

 

In game two it was all the Lady Bobcats as they would score early and often enroute to the 9-0 victory over the Lady Bears. Jones would score three runs in the first, two runs, in the second, one run in the third and three runs in the fourth inning.  Jones hit two home runs in the game.  The Lady Bears were unable to get their offense going and was held scoreless by the Lady Bobcats pitchers. L. Stringer and M. Peagler combined to pitched a complete game no hitter.

L. Stringer earned the victory for Jones County as she pitched three innings allowing zero runs on zero hits, while striking out three. Bailey Duhon took the loss for the Lady Bears as she pitched five innings allowing nine runs on seven hits while striking out six.

 

The Lady Bears will be back in action this Sunday April 14 as they travel to Eunice to take on the LSUE Lady Bengals in a doubleheader starting at 1 pm.
