Lady Bears drop a pair to #2 LSUE Lady Bengals

Lady Bears Softball drop a pair of games today to the #2 LSUE Lady Bengals.  In game one, the Lady Bears could not control the high powered offense of the Lady Bengals as they fall 10 to 1, in five innings.  In game two, the Lady Bears lost the lead late in the ball game, thus dropping game two 12 to 5.

 

In game one, the Lady Bengals got on the board first with a run, in second, to take the early lead.  They would add a run in the third with a lead off homerun by M. Monson to take a 2-0 lead. BRCC Lady Bears would get on the board, in the fourth, with a solo home run by Blayne Pence to centerfield.  After four, the Lady Bears trailed 2-1. The fifth inning was where the Lady Bears ran into some trouble.  The Lady Bears could not control the high powered offense of the Lady Bengals, as they exploded for eight runs, in the fifth inning. The Lady Bears would fight till the end when Kelsey Cifreo and Savanna Orgeron would both reach, in the fifth, but both would be stranded thus the Lady Bears drop game one 10 to 1, in a five inning mercy rule.

Kelsey Cifero started for the Lady Bears.  Kelsey pitched four and one-thirds innings allowing eight runs (4 earned) on five hits while striking out 6. Bailey Duhon pitched in relief for the Lady Bears. Bailey pitched two-thirds inning, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits while striking out one.

Game 1 Lady Bears Highlights:

Savanna Orgeron went 2 for 3

Blayne Pence went 1 for 3 with 1 Run and 1 RBI

Courtney Ortego went 1 for 2

Payge Hebert went 1 for 2

 

In game two, the Lady Bears came out with the aggression on offense and took an early 4 to 1 lead but the Lady Bengals used a big fifth inning to defeat the Lady Bears 12 to 5. Baton Rouge would get on the board first with three runs, in the first. Savanna Orgeron would lead off with a walk, followed by a single by Hallie Autin and Blayne Pence would double to left field driving in Orgeron. Bailey Duhon would follow that up with a double of her own to centerfield scoring Autin and Pence. In the top of the fourth, the Lady Bengals would get on the board with a run. In the bottom of the fourth, the Lady Bears would respond with a run of their own via the long ball by Haleigh Laylle to left field.  After four, the Lady Bears held a 5 to 1 lead.  For the second straight game the fifth inning was unkind to the Lady Bears.  LSUE would tie the game in the fifth with a three run home run by H. Carpenter to left field.  They would score three more runs to take a 7 to 5 lead over the Lady Bears.  LSUE would tact on another run in the sixth to make it 8 to 5. In the ninth, the Lady Bengals would score four more runs to take the 12 to 5 game two victory.  In the ninth, M. Monson hit her second home run of the day, this one being a two run home run to right field.

LSUE out hit Baton Rouge 13 to 7, while Baton Rouge committed three errors, in the game.

 

Bailey Duhon started the game for the Lady Bears.  Bailey pitched four and one-thirds innings allowing six runs on seven hits while striking out two. Kelsey Cifreo pitched in relief for the Lady Bears. Kelsey pitched two and two-thirds innings allowing six runs on six hits.

Savanna Orgeron went 1 for 3 with 2 Runs and 1 BB

Hallie Autin went 1 for 4 with 1 Run

Blayne Pence went 1 for 4 with 1 Run and 2 RBIs

Bailey Duhon went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs

Haleigh Laylle went 2 for 3 with 1 Run and 1 RBI

Allie Vincent went 1 for 2

 

The Lady Bears will be back in action on Tuesday April 9, as Bossier Parish Lady Cavs come to town for a doubleheader starting at 1 Pm at Oak Villa Park.
