Lady Bears drop a pair to #10 Co-Lin Lady Wolves

#10 Co-Lin Lady Wolves sweep the twin bill this afternoon versus the Baton Rouge Lady Bears. The Lady Wolves win game one 9 to 4 and steal the nightcap 3 to 2.

In game one, the Co-Lin Lady Wolves used the long ball to defeat the Baton Rouge Lady Bears 9 to 4. Co-Lin hit three homers in the game.

Baton Rouge would get on the board first with two runs, in the first. Savanna Orgeron would lead off and reach on an error. Blayne Pence would reach on a bunt single to the pitcher.  Both Orgeron and Pence would score on a Bailey Duhon double to left field for the Lady Bears first runs of the game. Co-Lin Lady Wolves would respond in the bottom of the inning with a run. After one, BRCC led 2-1.  The Lady Wolves would score three runs, in the second inning, to take a 4 to 2 lead over the Lady Bears. Baton Rouge would tie the game at four with two runs, in the fifth inning. In the fifth, Payge Hebert would reach on an error and score on a Savanna Orgeron single to centerfield. The Lady Bears would tie the game when Blayne Pence would triple to centerfield scoring Orgeron.  The game would not be tied for long as the Lady Wolve's D. McMillian would homer to left field to retake the lead which they would not relinquish. Co-Lin would tact on two more runs,in the fifth, to take the 6 to 4 lead. In the sixth, they would add two more insurance runs with a home run by H. Ashley. Co-Lin would defeat Baton Rouge 9 to 4.

Co-Lin out hit Baton Rouge 11 to 6. The Lady Wolves would commit five errors compared to three by the Lady Bears.

Kaytlon Ward earned the victory for the Lady Wolves. She pitched seven innings allowing four runs on six hits while striking out three. Kelsey Cifreo got the loss for the Lady Bears. Kelsey pitched six innings allowing nine runs on eleven hits while striking out four.

Game 1 Lady Bears Highlights:

Savanna Orgeron went 1 for 4 with 2 runs and 1 RBI

Hallie Autin went 1 for 4

Blayne Pence went 2 for 4 with 1 Run and 1 RBI

Bailey Duhon went 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs

Payge Hebert went 1 for 3 with 1 Run

 

Baton Rouge falls in a nail biter to Co-Lin 3 to 2, in game two, of today's twin bill. Co-Lin took advantage of some Bears miscues to steal the victory.  The Lady Bears had their opportunities throughout the game but they could not get the timely hit they needed when they had runners in scoring position.

Lady Bears would score first with a run, in the second, when Payge Hebert, who doubled, would score on a Cori Breaux double to left field. Lady Wolves would score two runs, in the fourth, to take a 2 to 1 lead. The Lady Bears would tie the game in the fifth when Blayne Pence, who singled, would score on an infield single by Allie Vincent. In the bottom of the inning, Co-Lin would take advantage of a Baton Rouge miscue in the outfield to score a run and retake the lead at 3 to 2.  Baton Rouge would threaten in the sixth with the bases loaded and no outs but Co-Lin would escape the inning without giving up a run. The Lady Bears would fight till the end, when Allie Vincent would single, advance to second on an error and move over to third on a wild pitch then Payge Hebert would walk to put runners on first and third but the Lady Bears again would strand both runners thus falling in game two, 3 to 2 to the Lady Wolves.

Baton Rouge outhit Co-Lin 9 to 3. 

Mackenize Gros, who came in for starting pitcher M. Smith, earned the victory for the Lady Wolves. She pitched four and a third innings allowing one run on four hits while striking out two. Bailey Duhon got the loss for the Lady Bears. Bailey pitched a great game. She allowed three runs on three hits while striking out three.

 

Game 2 Lady Bears Highlights:

Savanna Orgeron went 2 for 5

Blayne Pence went 1 for 3 with 1 Run and 1BB

Bailey Duhon went 1 for 2 with 2 BB

Allie Vincent went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI 

Payge Hebert went 1 for 3 with 1 Run and 1BB

Cori Breaux went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI 

  

The Lady Bears will be back in action on Wednesday April 3, as in state foes  LSUE Lady Bengals come to Baton Rouge for a pair of games starting at 3 pm.
