Lady Bears drop a pair to #1 Jones County

Lady Bears softball drop a pair of games to the #1 Jones County Lady Bobcats by the final score of 10 to 2.

Baton Rouge would get on the board first when Savanna Orgeron led off with a solo home run to center field.  Jones would tie the game at one, in the bottom of the first. Jones would take  advantage of the Lady Bears inconsistent pitching to score six runs, in the second inning, to take a 7 to 1 lead, after two. Jones would add two more runs, in the third,and one more run, in the fourth to take a 10 to 1 lead after four over the Lady Bears.  The Lady Bears would fight till the end, when Savanna Orgeron would led off the seventh with her second home run of the game, but it was not enough as the Lady Bears would lose game one 10 to 2, in five innings to the Lady Bobcats.

Hallie Donald got the victory for the Lady Bobcats.  She pitched five innings allowing two runs on nine hits. Lacey Bonvillain got the loss for the Lady Bears.  Lacey pitched one and two-thirds innings allowing seven runs on five hits. Kelsey Cifreo pitched two and a third innings in relief for the Lady Bears

Lady Bears Game 1 Highlights:

Savanna Orgeron went 3 for 3 with 2 Runs and 2 RBIs- (2 homers )

Blayne Pence went  1 for 3

Krystal Stubbs went 1 for 3

Bailey Duhon went 2 for 2

Payge Hebert went 1 for 2

 

In game two, Jones County capitalized on some Lady Bears errors and used the long ball to defeat the Lady Bears 10 to 2 in five innings.

The Lady Bears would score first when Blayne Pence would homer to centerfield. Jones would respond with a three run homer, in the bottom of the first, to take the  4 to 1 lead. Jones would score three more runs, in the second, one, in the third, and two, in the fourth, to take a 10 to 1 lead after four.  In the fifth, the Lady Bears would add another run when Payge Hebert would led off with a home run to center field.  It was not enough as the Lady Bears would fall 10 to 2 to Jones County, in five innings.

Jones out hit Baton Rouge 7 to 5, which three of those were homer runs.  Baton Rouge committed three errors in the game.

L. Stringer earned the victory for Jones County. She pitched four innings allowing one run off of three hits while striking out three. Bailey Duhon got the loss for Baton Rouge.  Bailey pitched one and one-third innings allowing six runs on three hits. Kelsey Cifreo pitched two and two-thirds innings in relief for the Lady Bears allowing four runs off of four hits.

Savanna Orgeron went 2 for 3 

Blayne Pence went 1 for 3 with 1 Run and 1 RBI (1Homer)

Krystal Stubbs went 1 for 2

Payge Hebert went 1 for 2 with 1 Run and 1 RBI (1 Homer)

 

The Lady Bears will be back in action this Sunday March 24 versus Blinn College in a doubleheader starting at 12 pm at Oak Villa Park.
