LSUE Lady Bengals used a big third inning to defeat the BRCC Lady Bears 10 to 5, in the Wildcats Invitational.
LSUE scored first with one run in the first then they exploded for nine runs in the third inning to take a 10-0 lead after three innings. Baton Rouge would strike back with one run in the fourth and four runs in the fifth but it was not enough to overcome the early deficit. LSUE hit two homer on the day. Baton Rouge committed six errors in the game compared to only four by LSUE.
The Lady Bears would get on the board in the fourth when Haleigh Laylle would draw a walk and would later score on a Blayne Pence double to right field. They would tact on four runs in the fifth. It would start when Courtney Ortego, Lacey Bonvillain, and Blayne Pence would all single. Haleigh Laylle would reach on an error scoring Ortego, and Bonvillain Pence would score when Hallie Autin would reach on another LSUE error. Finally, Laylle would score when Krystal Stubbs would ground out.
Jeanne Trahan would earn the victory for LSUE. She pitched two innings allowing zero runs on zero hits while striking out two. Bailey Duhon would take the loss for the Bears. She pitched two innings allowing eight runs on six hits. Lacey Bonvillain pitched four innings in relief for the Lady Bears She allowed two runs on four hits while striking out five.

Blayne Pence went 2 for 4 with 1 Run
Payge Hebert went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI
Courtney Ortego went 1 for 2 with 1 run and 1BB
Lacey Bonvillain went 1 for 2 with 1 run
The Lady Bears will conclude the Wildcats Invitational with a doubleheader against tournament host Pearl River tomorrow, February 9, at 4 and 6 pm.
