Lady Bears Split with San Jac Coyotes

Baton Rouge earns a split versus the San Jac Coyotes.  Lady Bears take game one 5 to 4 but drop game two 5 to 1.

BRCC stole the lead late in game one to come out with the 5 to 4 victory.  San Jac got on the board first with a run, in the third,  to take an early lead. BRCC responded with two runs, in the fifth, to take a one run lead. It all started when Sydnee Mccall would reach on an error by the second basemen, then Blayne Pence would double to left field and Hallie Autin would line out to right field but McCall would score on a throwing error. BRCC would score again when Taryn McNabb would single to the shortstop driving home Pence from third. Lady Bears would add another run to their lead in the sixth via an Emily Hart homer to centerfield. San Jac would tie the game, in the bottom of the sixth, via a two run homer by K. Rivera.  After six complete, the score was even at 3 a piece. BRCC would rally, in the seventh, to retake the lead with two runs. Taryn McNabb would double to left field driving in Hallie Autin, who reached on a single and Shelby McDonald would single to right field driving in McNabb. San Jac would not go away quietly, in the bottom of the inning, as they would manage to score one run but would fall short.  Final score was Baton Rouge 5 and San Jac 4.

Shelby Breaux earned the victory for the Lady Bears pitching a complete game allowing 4 runs on 8 hits.

 

Lady Bears Game 1 Highlights:

Blayne Pence went 2 for 4 with 1 Run

Hallie Autin went 1 for 3 with 1 Run

Taryn McNabb went 2 for 3 with 1 Run and 2 RBIs

Shelby McDonald went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI

Emily Hart went 1 for 2 with 1 Run and 1 RBI

 

In game two, the Lady Bears fell behind early and could not comeback, as the San Jac Coyotes take a 5 to 1 victory. San Jac scored one run in the first, one run in the second and three runs in the third to grab the win. BRCC would score their only run of the game in the seventh inning. Sydnee McCall would reach on an error and Savanna Orgeron would single to left field driving in McCall.

Rene Firmin got the loss for the Lady Bears.  She pitched five and two-thirds innings allowing 5 runs on 6 hits while striking out two.  Sydnee McCall pitched one-third of an inning in relief. Denisse Gracia got the win for San Jac.  She pitched four innings, allowing 0 runs on 5 Hits.

 

Lady Bears Game 2 Highlights:

Sara Tate went 1 for 3

Shelby McDonald went 2 for 3

Savanna Orgeron went 1 for 1 with 1 RBI.

 

The Lady Bears will continue their Texas road swing on Monday April 30 as they travel to Galveston.  Doubleheader with the Whitecaps starts at 1 pm.
