LSUE spoils BRCC's Sophomore Night

#2 Ranked LSUE Lady Bengals sweep BRCC Lady Bears, this evening at Oak Villa Park. Bengals take game one 4 to 0 and game two 13 to 5.

BRCC could not get anything started on offensive in game one.  LSUE got on the board first when they stole home. They would tact on another run in the second via the pass ball. Bengals would conclude their scoring when they scored two runs on a double by M. Monson, in the fifth. A few bright spots for the Lady Bears was a Sara Tate double in the second, and a Hallie Autin double in the fifth. 

M. Madison led LSUE with two of their five stolen bases on the day. LSUE outhit BRCC 6 to 5.

Heather Zumo got the win for the Lady Bengals pitching seven innings, allowing 0 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 4.  Shelby Breaux took the loss for Baton Rouge.  She pitched seven innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits with 2 strikeouts.

 

Game 1 Lady Bears Highlights:

Hallie Autin went 1 for 3

Sara Tate went 1 for 3

Sydnee McCall went 1 for 2 with 1 BB

Shelby Breaux went 1 for 3

 

In game two, the Lady Bears bats came alive but they could not overcome an early deficient thus falling 13 to 5 to LSUE.  LSUE scored first again with one run in the first.  They exploded for seven runs, in the second, to taking a commanding 8 to 0 lead that they would not relinquish.  BRCC fought back to score three runs in the second, one run in the third and one run in the fourth.  In the second inning, Shelby Breaux would double to centerfield and score on a Liz Davis line drive to left field.  Kelsey and Liz would score on a Taryn McNabb single up the middle. Lady Bears would score again, in the third,  when Emily Hart, who doubled, would score on a fielder's choice. LSUE would add four more runs in the fourth when L. DeBarge hit a two run homer to centerfield and  H. Carpenter doubled driving in two more.  BRCC would scratch to score another run in the fourth inning.  Liz Davis would single and score on a Sara Tate fly out to right field.  After four innings, the Lady Bengals held a 12 to 5 lead.  LSUE would add another run in the seventh to extend their lead to 13 to 5. 

LSUE ran wild on the base paths again with six stolen bases.  They also outhit the Lady Bears 17 to 7. BRCC committed five errors compared to 2 for LSUE.

Morghan LaTour started the game for LSUE.  She pitched two innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits. Sydnee McCall started the game for the Lady Bears pitching four and two-thirds innings allowing 5 runs on 8 hits. Shelby Breaux and Rene Firmin pitched three and one-thirds innings in relief for BRCC

Game 2 Lady Bears Highlights:

Taryn McNabb went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI and 1 BB

Emily Hart went 1 for 4 with 1 Run

Shelby Breaux went 1 for 2 with 1 Run

Sydnee McCall went 1 for 2

Kelsey Cifreo went 0 for 1 with 1 Run and 1 RBI

Liz Davis went 3 for 4 with 2 Runs.

 

Lady Bears will be back in action on Friday April 20, at home versus Southwest Mississippi Lady Bears in a doubleheader starting at 1 pm.
