Bossier Parish sweeps Baton Rouge

Nationally ranked Bossier Parish Community College sweeps Baton Rouge, this afternoon at Oak Villa Park.  Lady Bears fight back to tie the game but fall in extras, in game one 6 to 3. BRCC drops game two, 11 to 3.

Lady Bears would jump on the board early but unforced errors and the long ball got the best of them in game one. BRCC scored one run in the first to take the early lead. Taryn McNabb would single driving in Hallie Autin.  Lady Bears would add another run to their lead, in the second, when Payge Hebert would score on a pass ball.  Bossier Parish would get on the board ,in the third inning, with one run. The Cavaliers would tie the score, in the fifth, with a E. Favela homer to left field.  At the end of regulation, we were all tied at 2. In the eighth, Bossier would take a 3 to 2 lead. In the bottom of the inning, the Lady Bears would manufacture a run.  Payge Hebert walked then stole second and third and scored on a Shelby Breaux  ground out. Bossier would take the lead for good, in the eleventh, with a three run homer to centerfield by C. Fagan. Final score of game one was 6 to 3, in eleven innings.

 

Lady Bears Game 1 Highlights:

Hallie Autin went 2 for 5 with 1 Run

Taryn McNabb went 2 for 6 with 1 RBI

Payge Hebert went 0 for 2 with 2 Runs and 2 BB

Heather Gardner went 2 for 4

Shelby Breaux went 1 for 5 with 1 RBI

Shelby Breaux pitched 11 innings allowing 6 Runs on 10 hits while striking out 5.

 

Two big innings by the Cavaliers, in game two, lead them to an 11 to 3 victory over the Lady Bears. Again, BRCC would score first.  They scored one run on a double steal by Payge Hebert who stole second while Cori Breaux stole home. Bossier would take a lead that they would not relinquish in the third.  They scored six runs in the frame to take a 6 to 1 lead. Baton Rouge would begin to scratch away and they scored one run in the third when Sara Tate doubled to drive in Autin. Lady Bears would continue to chip away with another run in the fifth. Rene Firmin would single to centerfield scoring Hallie Autin. Bossier would score five runs over the last two innings to extend their lead to 11 to 3, thus taking game two by that score. 

Elisa Favela got the win for Bossier pitching seven innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits while striking out 7. Sydnee McCall got the loss for the Lady Bears.  She pitched two and one-third innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits while striking out 2.

Bossier out hit Baton Rouge 12 to 6.

 

Lady Bears Game 2 Highlights:

Hallie Autin went 2 for 3 with 2 Runs

Rene Firmin went 1 for 2 with 1 RBI

Cori Breaux went 1 for 3 with 1 Run

Sara Tate went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI

Rene Firmin came in relief to pitch 4 and one-third innings allowing 4 earnd runs on 6 hits while striking out 3.

 

Lady Bears will be back in action this Wednesday April 18, as they take on LSUE Bengals in a doubleheader starting at 4 pm.  This will be sophomore night for five special ladies.  Whitney Hall, Sydnee McCall, Kaylin Groce, Liz Davis and Heather Gardner will be honored for their hard work and dedication to the softball program these last two years.
