Lady Bears drop two to #6 Jones County

Lady Bears drop two to nationally ranked Jones County Junior College.  BRCC falls in game one 11 to 1 in five innings and 8 to 2 in game two.

BRCC fell behind earlier when the Bobcats scored seven runs, in the first inning, and they could not overcome the deficient. Jones added four more runs, in the fourth, to grab the 11 to 0 lead and the victory, in a five inning run rule.  Lady Bears would drive in their only run of the game in the fifth. Kelsey Cifreo started the inning with a single to centerfield and would score on a Hallie Autin single. Jones only outhit BRCC 6 to 4 but capitalized on 5 Lady Bears errors.

Karli Perue got the victory for Jones pitching a complete game, allowing 1 run off of 4 hits while striking out 5. Rene Firmin took the loss for the Lady Bears allowing 5 Runs on 0 hits.  Sydnee McCall and Emily Hart would come out of the bullpen for the Lady Bears.  

 

Lady Bears Game 1 Highlights:

Hallie Autin went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI

Sara Tate went 1 for 3

Taryn McNabb went 1 for 2

Kelsey Cifreo went 1 for 2 with 1 Run

 

Jones would again jump out to the early lead. This time it was only two runs, which was acquired by a two run homer by C. Venable.  BRCC would tie the game, in the fourth inning,  when Cori Breaux would triple to score Shelby McDonald and later score on a ground out by Shelby Breaux. Bobcats would put the game away for good when they scored 2 runs in the fourth.  They would score 3 more in the fifth and 1 more in the sixth to take the 8 to 2 victory over the Lady Bears.

Shelby Breaux took the loss for the Lady Bears pitching six innings, allowing 8 runs on 10 hits while striking out 2.

Jones out hit Baton Rouge 10 to 4 but Jones committed 5 errors compared to only 1 for  BRCC.

Hallie Autin went 1 for 4

Shelby McDonald went 0 for 2 with 1 run and 1 BB

Cori Breaux went 1 for 3 with 1 run and 1 RBI

Heather Gardner went 1 for 3

Sara Tate went 1 for 4

 

Lady Bears will be back in action on Monday April 16, as they return home to Oak Villa Park, to play Bossier Parish Community College.  Doubleheader begins at 1 pm.
