Lady Bears split with Seahawks

Lady Bears fall in game one of the doubleheader 10 to 2 but rally to win game two 6 to 5  versus Lamar Port Arthur Seahawks.

 

The Seahawks used two big innings to defeat the Lady Bears in game one. Seahawks scored five runs,in the second inning, to take the early lead. BRCC Lady Bears got on the board with their only runs of the game in the third inning. Sara Tate would triple driving in Blayne Pence and Sydnee McCall. Lamar Port Arthur would score five more runs over the last three innings to take the 10 to 2, six inning mercy rule victory. Seahawks saw the ball well pounding out 13 hits compared to the Lady Bears 6. 

Briana White got the victory pitching six innings allowing 2 runs on 6 hits. Rene Firmin got the loss for the Lady Bears pitching five innings allowing 9 runs on 12 hits, while walking 4.

 

Game 1: Lady Bears Highlights:

Blayne Pence went 1 for 3 with 1 Run

Sydnee McCall went 1 for 2 with 1 Run and 1 BB

Sara Tate went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs 

 

Game two was a different story for the Lady Bears as they scattered 14 hits to rally and grab a 6 to 5 victory. Lady Bears loaded the bases in the first and Taryn McNabb hit into a fielders choice scoring the first run of the game.  Seahawks responded with one run, in the second inning, to tie the game at one. Lamar took a 3 to 1 lead with two runs, in the third inning. BRCC scored two runs of their own, in the fourth inning,  to tie the game at 3. Shelby Breaux would reach on an error driving home Heather Gardner and Hallie Autin would single to drive in Breaux. 

Lamar Port Arthur would retake the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Baton Rouge would tie the game again in the fifth inning with two runs. Taryn McNabb would double to drive in a run and Shelby Breaux would double to drive in another run. Lady Bears would take the lead for good with one run in the sixth inning off a Taryn McNabb single. Seahawks would attempt a rally in the seventh when they would load the bases but would come up empty.

Baton Rouge out hit Lamar Port Arthur 14 to 7.

Shelby Breaux came out of the bullpen to pitch four and two-thirds innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 3.

 

Game 2 Lady Bears Highlights:

Blayne Pence went 2 for 4 with 1 Run

Hallie Autin went 1 for 4 with 1 run and 1 RBI 

Sara Tate went 1 for 4 with 1 Run

Taryn McNabb went 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs 

 

Lady Bears will be back in action this Friday April 13 as they travel to Jones County Junior College. Doubleheader starts at 3 pm.
