Lady Bears swept by Lady Warriors

The Lady Bears fall twice today at East Central. Final of game one was 10 to 7 and game two was 9 to 5.  It was a day for the long ball with nine homers tallied between the two teams. 

The first game of today's doubleheader was dominated by the long ball. Each team hit three homers. Lady Bears got on the board first with back to back homers by Sara Tate and Taryn McNabb.  Sara hit a two run homerun to left field while Taryn hit a solo homerun to centerfield. East Central responded with five runs, in the bottom of the inning, to take a 5 to 3 lead.

Warriors would add a run to their lead with a homerun by C Obman in the second. They would load the bases in the third but the Lady Bears would hold them to only one run. After three innings, the Warriors held a 7 to 3 lead.

BRCC picked up two runs, in the fourth, on back to back doubles by Shelby McDonald and Payge Hebert and a single by Heather Gardner. After four innings, East Central held a 7 to 5 lead over the Lady Bears. 

East Central would add three runs off back to back homers, in the fifth inning, to extend their lead to 10 to 5.

Lady Bears scored two more runs off a two run homerun by Blayne Pence in the sixth inning. The Lady Bears comeback would fall short when they stranded two runners, in the seventh, thus losing game one 10 to 7.

Kaitlyn Oswald got the win for East Central pitching a complete game. Sydnee McCall got the loss for Baton Rouge pitching only one-third of an inning allowing 5 runs on 5 hits.

It was truly a hitter's game as East Central pounded out 16 hits compared to 9 for BRCC.

Game 1 Lady Bears Highlights:

Taryn McNabb went 2 for 4 with 1 Run and 1 RBI. She hit a homer in the first.

Blayne Pence went 1 for 3 with 2 Runs and 2 RBIs. She hit a homer in the sixth.

Sara Tate went 1 for 3 with 1 Run and 2 RBIs. She hit a homer in the first.

Payge Hebert went 1 for 4 with 1 Run and 1 RBI

Cori Breaux went 1 for 1 with 1 Run as a pinch hitter.

Heather Gardner went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI. 

 

BRCC would get on the board first in game two with a run in the second inning.  Hallie Autin would drive in Liz Davis with a single to centerfield. The Warriors would respond with two runs in the bottom of the frame.

Sydnee McCall would tie the game in the third with a homer to deep centerfield. Again the Warriors would respond with two more runs in the bottom of the inning and they would add two more in the fourth to take a 6 to 2 lead.

East Central would add another run, in the fifth inning, off a C.Obman homerun to left field. East Central took  a 7 to 2 lead into the sixth inning. The Warriors would tact on two more to extend their lead to 9 to 2 with a two run homerun from M. McMahon in the sixth.

Baton Rouge would rally to score three runs,in the seventh inning,  but would fall short 9 to 5. Lady Bears would get their runs when Taryn McNabb would double to score two and Shelby McDonald would single to score the final Lady Bear's run of the game. 

Mackenzie Rousseau would get the win for East Central pitching a complete game, allowing 5 Runs on 13 hits. Rene Firmin would get the loss for the Lady Bears pitching three and one-third innings allowing 6 Runs on 5 hits.

Baton Rouge outhit East Central 13 to 8.

Game 2 Lady Bears Highlights:

Sydnee McCall went 2 for 4 with 2 Runs and 1 RBI. She hit a homer in the third

Hallie Autin  went 1 for 4 with 1 Run and 1 RBI

Taryn McNabb went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs

Payge Hebert went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI

Liz Davis went 2 for 4 with 1Run

 

The Lady Bears will be back in action next Wednesday March 28 as they travel to Houston, Texas to face San Jac in a doubleheader starting at 4 pm. The Lady Bears will stay in Texas and take on Galveston on Thursday.
