Lady Bears Split with Seahawks

Baton Rouge earns a split with Lamar Port Arthur.  In game one, Rene Firmin dominated on the mound and led the Bears to a 4-0 win. In game two, the Bears fell behind early and was unable to come back thus losing  4 to 0.

Lady Bears win game one four to zero.  It was a pitching dual till the fifth inning when the Lady Bears exploded for four runs.  It all started when Kelsey Cifreo singled.  Blayne Pence would then single to drive in the first run of the game. Hallie Autin would follow up with a single to score Pence. Sydnee McCall would triple to score Autin. Sara Tate would single to score McCall from third.  That was all the run support Rene Firmin would need. She pitched a complete game shutout. Rene pitched 7 innings allowing 3 hits and striking out 6.

Game 1: Lady Bears Highlights:

Sydnee McCall went 2 for 3 with 1 Run and 1 RBI

Hallie Autin went 1 for 3 with 1 Run and 1 RBI

Sara Tate went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI 

Game two was a complete reversal of game one.  Seahawks' pitcher White pitched a complete game shutout for the victory.  Lamar Port Arthur would  score one run in the first inning. The seahawks added two more runs in the fourth and one run in the seventh. Shelby Breaux would take the loss for Baton Rouge pitching seven innings allowing 4 runs on 10 hits while striking out 1.  The Seahawks tallied 10 hits compared to 7 hits for the Lady Bears.  Both team committed one error in the game. One bright spot for Baton Rouge was Payge Hebert who went 2 for 3.

The Lady Bears will be back in action this Friday March 23 as they travel to Decatur, Mississippi to face East Central, in a doubleheader starting at 1 pm.
