Lady Bears fall to Lady Wolves

Lady Bears fall twice, this afternoon, versus the Co-Lin Lady Wolves at Oak Villa Park.  Game one final score: Co-Lin 4 and Baton Rouge 2.  Game two final score: Co-Lin 8 and Baton Rouge 4.

Co-Lin Lady Wolves scored 3 runs in the first two innings to take an early 3 to 0 lead over the Lady Bears in game one.  Lady Bears starting pitcher Rene Firmin  would then settle down.  Rene and Sydnee McCall, who came out of the bullpen, shut down the Lady Wolves for four innings.

Baton Rouge got on the board in the sixth inning with two runs. It started when Payge Hebert singled to second base followed by two walks by Heather Gardner and Blayne Pence to load the bases. Hallie Autin would hit a double to right field scoring Gardner and Pence.

Co-Lin would tact on an insurance run in the seventh inning with a homerun by T. Bryant. Baton Rouge would get runners on, in the seventh inning, but could not scratch a run.

Rene Firmin took the loss for the Lady Bears pitching 4 innings allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and striking out 2. Makenzie Smith got the win for the Lady Wolves pitching five and a third innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and striking out 5.

Game One Lady Bears Highlights:

Blayne Pence went 1 for 2

Hallie Autin went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs

Payge Hebert went 1 for 2 with 1 run

In game two the Lady Bears would get on the board first with one run, in the third inning. It started with a Payge Hebert triple to right field. Hallie Autin would hit a sac fly to center field that would score Payge. After two innings the Lady Bears held a 1-0 lead over the Lady Wolves.

Baton Rouge would score again, in the fourth inning, when Liz Davis reached on a fielder's choice and would later score off a Kelsey Cifreo single to left field.  After four innings, the Lady Bears had a 2-0 lead.

Co-Lin would load the bases in the fifth inning and T.Bryant would hit her second home run of the day to take a 4 to 2 lead over the Lady Bears.  Co-Lin would score four more runs in the sixth inning.  Two of those runs were off of a homerun hit by B. Root. After six innings, the Lady Wolves held a 8 to 2 lead.

The Lady Bears would attempt a comeback in the seventh inning. BRCC would get two runners on by a Blyane Pence walk and a single by Sydnee McCall. They would both score on a Shelby McDonald double to center field.  Unfortunately, Co-Lin would get a fly out and a ground out to end the inning, thus winning game two 8 to 4.

Sydnee McCall took the loss for BRCC, pitching five innings giving up 7 runs on 10 hits and striking out 2. Morgan Dubose would get the win for Co-Lin pitching four innings, allowing 2 runs on five hits and striking out 1.

Game Two Lady Bears Highlights:

Sydnee McCall went 2 for 4 with 1 run

Shelby McDonald went 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs

Kelsey Cifreo went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI

Payge Hebert went 2 for 3 with 1 Run

Shelby Breaux entered the game in relief and pitched 1.1 innings allowing no runs, with 1 strikeout.

 

The Lady Bears will be back in action Wednesday March 14 and Thursday March 15 versus Southeastern Community College at Oak Villa Park.  Game times for both days are 1 pm and 3 pm.
