BRCC falls to Coastal Alabama South in last game of Sun Chief Classic

Coastal Alabama South defeated Baton Rouge 9 to 1,in six innings, this afternoon, in the Sun Chief Classic.  Coastal Alabama South capitalized on a great hitting day and a poor BRCC defensive performance to get the victory. Coast Alabama South had 9 runs on 8 hits. BRCC would only get one hit on the day, which was by Taryn McNabb. The Lady Bears  committed six errors compared to two by Coastal. Lady Bears would get on the board first,in the third inning, with one run. Blayne Pence and Sydnee McCall were both walked. Pence scored when Sara Tate reached base on an error by Coastal Alabama South. Coastal would score two runs in the fourth to take a 2 to 1 lead over the Bears. They would break the game open,in the fifth inning, when they scored four runs. Coastal would add three more runs in the sixth inning to complete the 9 to 1 run rule victory over the Lady Bears. 

Thompson got the win for Coastal Alabama South pitching 4 innings allowing 1 hit and 1 run and striking out four. Rene Firmin took the loss for the Bears pitching four and two-thirds innings allowing 6 runs on 6 hits and striking out 1. 

BRCC went 1-4 on the weekend in the Sun Chief Classic. 

Lady Bears Highlights:

Blayne Pence was 0-1 with 1 run and 2 walks

Taryn McNabb was 1 for 2 and had the only BRCC hit of the day.

 

The Lady Bears will be Back in action on Wednesday February 21 at Oak Villa Park versus Pearl River. Games will be st 3 and 5 pm.
