Lady Bears fall to Wallace State Dothan Govs

 Baton Rouge would out hit Wallace State Dothan Govs 11 to 10 but will still fall 8 to 5, in the first game of the Sun Chief Classic.  The Lady Bears got on the board first, in the first inning, scoring four runs.  It all started when Blayne Pence opened the game with a single to centerfield, followed by a Hallie Autin single to centerfield then Shelby McDonald drove in two runs with a single of her own to centerfield.  Liz Davis then singled to left field to score Sara Tate, who got on base when she was hit by a pitch. Taryn McNabb would hit a double to left field to score Shelby McDonald ,to close the top of the first, with a 4 to 0 lead over the Govs. 

The Govs would tie the game in the second with four runs.  After two innings the score was BRCC 4 and Wallace State 4. The Govs would strike again in third inning with 2 more runs to take a 6 to 4 lead over the Lady Bears.

The Lady Bears would get on the board again in the fourth inning when they would load the bases on timely walks and Govs errors to score one run.  Govs would answer in the bottom of the frame with a run of their own to extend their lead to 7 to 5 over the Lady Bears.  Wallace State would tact on one more run in the sixth to take their final lead of 8 to 5 over the Lady Bears.

Renee Firmin took the loss for the Lady Bears pitching two and two-thirds innings allowing 6 runs on 8 hits and striking out six. Sydnee McCall came in for the Bears pitching the final three innings of the game allowing 2  runs on 2 hits and striking out 3. Emily Sowell got the win for the Govs allowing 5 runs on 8 hits in a little over three innings of work.

Blayne Pence went 1 for 2 with 1 run and 2 BB

Hallie Autin went 2 for 4 with 1 run

Shelby McDonald went 3 for 4 with 1 run and 2 RBIs

Sara Tate went 1 for 2 with 1 run, 1 RBI  and 1 BB

Liz Davis went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI
