Baton Rouge could not figure out Jones County pitching, in the second game, and lost 10 to 0 in five innings. Jones broke the game open in the second inning when they scored four runs. In the third inning the Lady Bobcats added three more runs to their lead, with homers by Hallie Donald and Guyton. At the end of three innings, the Lady Bobcats held a 7 to 0 lead over the Lady Bears. Jones finished their scoring in the fourth inning when they tacted on three more runs to their lead.
The Lady Bears could not string some hits together against Jones County's two pitchers. BRCC struck out 9 times and had only one hit in the game. Sara Tate had the only hit for the Lady Bears with a single to centerfield in the second inning.
Madison Burge grabbed the win for Jones, pitching two innings allowing only one hit. Rene Firmin took the loss for the Lady Bears.
Jones County Junior College improves to 2-0 while Baton Rouge falls to 1-3.
BRCC Lady Bears will be back in action this Friday and Saturday February 9th and 10th in the Pearl River Tournament . Check out the website for opponents and times for this weekend tournament.
