Baton Rouge Community College announced that Lana Bowers has been chosen to lead the BRCC softball program.

Bowers comes to BRCC from LSU-Eunice, where she was an assistant coach for last year's NJCAA Divison II National Champions.

"I am excited to have Lana join our staff, " Athletic Director, Neil Hayhurst said. "Her philosophy focuses on building the student-athlete as a whole as well as teaching them how to win. She played and coached at a successful Division I program, University of Louisiana-Lafayette. Plus, she spent last season working with the most successfull NJCAA softball program in recent memory, LSU-Eunice. I believe she will bring that winning nature to BRCC."

"I am excited to join the BRCC community and softball program," said Bowers who is eager to build on her past achievements. "It is a great privilege to work with the student-athletes here in their journey toward success. My goal is to develop them as people and help them reach their goals on and off the field."

She also assisted with catchers, infielders and hitters while a member of the staff. She assisted in the administrative aspects of the program, incvluding coordinating on-campus recruiting visits and community service projects. Coach Bowers made her second trip to the Women's College World Series, as an assistant coach, when ULL qualified in 2014.
