Lady Bears Lose to LSU-Eunice to End Season

BRCC battled against LSU-Eunice but fell short in both games of the doubleheader.

A weather delay of heavy rainfall caused the Lady Bears to have a game start at 5:00 pm. The first two batters for LSU-E hit line drive home runs over the central field fencing. This put LSU-E up 2-0 quickly in the first inning. The Lady Bears had a difficult time getting runners on base. In the 6th inning, BRCC put a run on the board when Taylor Coulon bunted the ball beautifully into dead territory. While this gave her an infield single, Morgan Berry moved Coulon to second base. Although she got out, the Bears now had a runner in scoring position. Heather Gardner got up and placed a ball through the infield which allowed Coulon to score a run. The Lady Bears fell short the LSU-E in game one, 4-1.

Due to the weather delay, game two was played under the lights. started at 7:00pm. In the first two innings LSU-E racked up five runs, quickly putting BRCC up against a wall. The Lady Bears were able to score three runs in the bottom of the third inning highlighted by a homerun by Joanna Booty. Heading into the top of the third inning, the score was 5-3. The Lady Bears just couldn't hold back the bats of LSU-E as they scored another six runs in the bottom of the 5th inning. Consequently the Lady bears lost to LSU-E from a run rule 11-3.

Following the game, the Lady Bears congratulated three sophomores: Joanna Booty, Faith Bourgeois and Megan Smith. They were recognized for their excellent efforts on and off the field here at Baton Rouge Community College. They all have played a major roll on the team and they will be missed greatly.
