Gordon State College Deals Lady Bears Two Losses

Gordon State College Deals Lady Bears Two Losses

Baton Rouge Community College continued their spring break trip with a doubleheader against Gordon State College yesterday. After earning a split with Andrew College, the Lady Bears lost both games against Gordon 7-3 and 8-4.

The BRCC bats were working early in game one, but they could not produce the timely hits when runners were in scoring position. Baton Rouge left runners on base the first two innings. Meanwhile, Gordon State opened the game with a lead off home run and after two innings held a 2-0 lead.

BRCC manufactured a run in the third to cut the deficit in half. It started with Alexis Groce earning a walk and moving to second after a Virginia Cacioppo single. Courtney Edwards then bunted the runners over to second and third. A single by Megan Smith would score Groce and BRCC was on the board.

Gordon State College answered with four runs of their own, including two more home runs, to put game one out of reach.

The second game was much of the same for Baton Rouge. The Lady Bears hit the ball, but could not musted the runs and left multiple base runners on base.

Gordon State hit two more home runs and led 3-0 after four innings.

BRCC battled back in the fifth inning to tie the game 3-3. The scoring began with a Morgan Berry single and a Alyssa Bush walk. Virginia Cacioppo cleared the bases with a three-run home run.

Unfortunately in the 6th inning, Gordon State racked up five more runs and the Lady Bears could not bounce back from. Final score 8-4 Gordon State college.

The Lady Bears are off today before playing Friday and Saturday in Florida. BRCC will take on Florida State College at Jacksonville and Pensacola State College to finish up their spring break trip.
