Lady Bears Struggle at Lamar State

The Lady Bears traveled west on I-10 to face Lamar State- Port Arthur for a doubeheader. After two weeks of rain and cancellations, BRCC was back in action.

Freshman hurler, Alyssa Bush, controlled the game from the mound with four scoreless innings to start the day. The Lady Bears were finally able to put a run on the board in the fifth inning when Virginia Cacioppo lined a solo homerun over the center field wall.

Lamar State-Port Arthur answered back quickly by scoring two runs of their own to take a 2-1 lead over BRCC.

In the top of the seventh inning, Baton Rouge would answer. Cacioppo began the inning with a walk. Megan Smith followed that up with a single. Later in the inning, Katherine Cognevich would rope an RBI double to center field to tie the game at two.

BRCC held the hometeam scoreless in teh seventh inning, but could not manage a run in the eighth. Lamar State-Port Arthur ended the game with a three-run walk off home run. The final score was 5-2.

Game two did not go the Lady Bears way. After finding themselves in awhole early, BRCC could not muster any runs and eventually lost 8-0.

BRCC is scheduled to travel to Galveston College on Monday, March 21st for a doubleheader. Game time is set for 2:00 pm.
