Smith Big Day Lifts BRCC past Dothan

Wallace State Community College- Hanceville jumped on the Lady Bears early with four runs in the first inning. BRCC answered with two runs in the second inning off the bat of Michala Hughes. The Hughes double to right field allowed Virginia Cacioppo and Taylor Hall to score. 

The two runs in the second inning were all BRCC would muster, eventually losing to Hanceville 12-2 in their first game on Saturday afternoon. 

Cacioppo finished the game reaching base safely three times with two singles and a walk.

BRCC faced Wallace Community College- Dothan in their final game in Gulf Shores. The Lady Bears started the scoring with three straigh singles. Morgan Berry, Virginia Cacioppo and Megan Smith all three singled for the Lady Bears in the first inning. Berry was able to cross the plate off of Smith's single and BRCC led 1-0 early. 

Dothan would tie the game in the second inning, but it wouldnt stay that way very long. BRCC would load the bases in the third inning. A Megan Smith sacrifice fly scored Katherine Cognevich. Cacioppo and Royell Cobb would also knock in RBI's to give the Lady Bears a 5-1 lead after three innings. 

BRCC secured the win in the sixth inning with a three-run home run from Smith. The game finished with a 9-5 Lady Bear victory.
