Poor Second Half dooms the Bears

Poor Second Half dooms the Bears

Monday November 20, 2023: Men's Basketball

Baton Rouge, LA

Lee College would use a second half comeback to defeat Baton Rouge, by the final score of 85 to 68, tonight in the Bears Den.

For the first twelve minutes of the ball game, the game was evenly matched with both teams trading buckets and the lead. The game would be tied four times in that time span. Arzika Seibou would hit a three pointer, for the Bears, to tie the game at 26 with 8:38 left in the half. The Bears would then close out the half on a 25 to 12 run to take a 51 to 38 advantage into the locker room. The run was fueled by Arzika Seibou, Reginald Stoner Jr and Jaylen Streeter. The trio combined for 20 of the 25 points.

Lee College Navigators came out of the locker room with a fire and aggression on the defensive end. The aggressive defensive play by the Navigators kept the Bears out of rhythm on the offensive end during the opening minutes of the second half.  Lee College would outscore Baton Rouge 14 to 2 in the first eight minutes to pull within one;53-52.  Lee would tie the ball game at 53 with 11:55 left to play in the game. The Bears struggled on the offensive end and had trouble containing the Navigators in the paint. Lee College would use the momentum shift to take control of the game, and pull off the 85 to 68 victory over Baton Rouge.

The Bears were led in scoring by Reginald Stoner Jr. with 19 points. The Navigators were led in scoring by Clark with 19 points.

With the loss Baton Rouge falls to 2-6, while Lee College improves to 6-2 on the season. Lee College now leads the overall series with Baton Rouge 11-1.
