Bears fall short at home against the Holmes Bulldogs

A late second half rally by the Holmes Community College Bulldogs propels them to a 64-58 victory over the Baton Rouge Bears, this afternoon in the Bears Den.

It was an evenly matched ball game, in the first half of this afternoon game, between the Bears and the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs held a slim one-point lead at the half over the Bears; 30-29.

In the second half, the game would be tied twice at 40 and then again at 42.  Holmes would then go on a 17-11 run to take a 59-53 lead, with two minutes remaining in the game. The Bears would pull within four on a Cameron Newman three pointer with 13.2 seconds left;62-58 but that would be as close as they would get as Holmes would defeat Baton Rouge 64-58, this afternoon.

Holmes was led in scorning by Cameron Wallace with 17 points. Baton Rouge was led in scoring by Jaylen Streeter with 17 points.

With the loss, Baton Rouge falls to 2-5, while Holmes improves to 7-1 on the season. Holmes increases their overall series lead to 16 wins to 2 losses against Baton Rouge.

 

Bears Highlights:

Jaylen Streeter led all Bears with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block.

Laron Louis Jr scored 10 points with 3 rebounds and 2 steals off the bench.

Reginald Stoner Jr added 7 points with 3 rebounds and 2 steals.

 

The Bears will continue their homestand with a 6 pm game on Monday November 20, 2023, versus the Lee College Navigators.
