Bears Basketball falls to the Delgado Dolphins

Bears Basketball falls to the Delgado Dolphins

Saturday February 15, 2020: Men's Basketball

Baton Rouge, LA

It was a story of runs and unfortunately for the Baton Rouge Bears tonight the Delgado Dolphins had one more run in them that would propel them to the 84 to 75 conference victory tonight in the Bears Den.

After the game was tied at 2, with 18:03 left to play in the first half, the Delgado Dolphins would go on a 25 to 8 run to take a 27 to 10 lead. During that time span the Bears struggled to contain the high-powered offense of the Dolphins and they could not find a rhythm of their own on the offensive end. At the five-minute mark of the half, the Bears found a spark on offense and went on an 18 to 7 run to close out the half. At the half, the Bears only trailed by three; 37 to 34.  The second half started off being a back and forth affair for the first eight minutes.  In that time span the game saw two ties and four lead changes. Delgado would grow their lead to seven point; 70 to 63 with 5 minutes left in the game. The Bears would fight and get the lead down to as little as five points, but it was not enough as the Delgado Dolphins would pull away in the final minutes to earn the 84 to 75 victory.

D. Mitchell had a game high 31 points to lead the Delgado Dolphins. Nicholas Porter Jr. led the Bears in scoring with 18 points.

With the victory the Delgado Dolphins improve to 4-16, 2-5 in conference play, while the Baton Rouge Bears falls to 6-20, 1-7 on the season.

Bears Highlights:

Nicholas Porter Jr. led all Bears with 18 points
