Bears fall to Dolphins in Bears Den

Wednesday February 5, 2020: Men's Basketball

Baton Rouge, LA

Baton Rouge Bears could not contain the high-powered offense of the Delgado Dolphins tonight in the Bears Den.  The Dolphins defeat the Bears 95 to 66 in tonight's LCCAC matchup.

It was a back and forth battle between the Bears and the Dolphins for the first 6 minutes of the game.  During that span the game saw 2 ties and 2 lead changes. Over the next four minutes, the Dolphins would go on an 11 to 1 run to take a 26 to 14 lead.  Delgado would continue their hot shooting to close out the half with a 51 to 32 lead over Baton Rouge.

In the second half, the Bears found a bit of offense off the bench from Nicholas Porter Jr. and Rodney Felton, but it was not enough to overcome the deficient. Delgado defeats the Bears for only the eighth time in the school's history.

Donte Mitchell led the Delgado Dolphins with a game high 33 points.  The Bears were led in scoring by Javon Brazile who scored 14 points.

With the victory the Dolphins improve to 3-14, 1-4 in conference play while the Bears fall 6-17, 1-4  on the season.

Bears Highlights:

Javon Brazile led all Bears with 14 points

Ronald Pugh II scored 12 points

Brenden Vessel added 11 points

Prince Campbell added 7 points.

The Bears will be in action on Saturday as they travel to Shreveport to take on Southern Shreveport Port City Jags at 4 pm.
