Bears fall to SUSLA Port City Jags

Bears fall to SUSLA Port City Jags

Wednesday January 29, 2020: Men's Basketball

Baton Rouge, LA

Baton Rouge Bears would start the game off hot, but they could not handle the high-powered offense of the Southern Shreveport Port City Jags as they fall tonight by the final score of 67 to 58.

The Bears came out the gates firing on all cylinders. They would start the game on a 12 to 5 run, over the first six minutes, to take a 12 to 5 lead.  The Port City Jags would settle down and go on a 27 to 5 run over the next ten minutes to take a 32 to 19 lead. The Bears would close out the quarter on a 7 to 2 run, but they still trailed at halftime; 34 to 26.

In the second half, the Bears would pull within four points; 45 to 41 with 10:57 left to play but that would be as close, as the Bears, would get as they drop tonight's LCCAC match-up 67 to 58.

The Port City Jags were led in scoring by C. Thomas who had a game high 22 points. The Bears were led by sophomore forward Prince Campbell with 16 points.

With the victory the Southern Shreveport Port City Jags improve to 8-6 and 2-1 in conference play, while the Baton Rouge Bears fall to 6-15, 1-2 on the season.

Bears Highlights:

Prince Campbell led all Bears with 16 points

Javon Brazile added 11 points
