Bears defeat Tigers in Region 23 Matchup

Monday January 6, 2020: Men's Basketball

Baton Rouge, LA

Baton Rouge Bears earned a much-needed Region 23 victory tonight over the Coahoma Tigers.  The Bears dominated the game from start to finish to earn the 70 to 55 victory.

It was a slow start as both teams struggled to find their rhythm the first seven minutes.  Baton Rouge led 8 to 5 with 13:39 left to play, in the first half.  The Bears would find their stroke from the field, as they would build their lead to thirteen with three minutes to play. Coahoma struggled from the field, as well as the free throw line all night.  At the half, the Bears led 35 to 22.

In the second half, the Bears kept their foot on the gas pedal, as they would take their largest lead of the night, eighteen with nine minutes to play; 57 to 39. The Bears continued to pressure the Tigers which kept them off balance on both ends of the floor.  It was a total team effort for the Bears, as everyone who stepped foot on the floor contributed to the 70 to 55 victory.

The Bears were led in scoring by Ronald Pugh II, who had a game high 19 points. The Tigers were led by Jordan O'Neal who scored 13.

With the victory the Bears improve to 4- 11, while the Tigers fall to 4-6 on the season.
